Thought they got me. A249 Detling hill - used to be a 70, then one end was made a 50mph until a foot bridge was built (which it has been now for ages but the limit is still there). I slowed for the camera but then speeded back up and as I came round the right hand bend the camera van was there - Wan**r

63 MPH in a new and unnecessary 50mph

If I was on the bike or in the 'vette, I would have been ok as no no.plate.

Think I'll snap half the plate off the company car.

Not bad though, first nick since 4/7/91 - that was for passing on the hard shoulder of the M25

They do this in Basingstoke, the Ring road has a national limit, but in some areas they lower it down to 50,for some reason!!,(no schools or housing near)and Herr comandant Blair has one of his Jackbooted hero's waiting in the back of a van with a camera snapping anyone that falls into the trap, meanwhile gangs of youth's wreak havoc on housing estates around the town, and there aint a copper in sight!
Strange world we live in!
Btw,read something about Dwight Yorke sending back the paperwork without signing it...and he got off.
also enquire when they last had the device that recorded your speed calibrated, its all worth a try

Its a fair cop as they say. I was doing nearer 80 at the time (I thought), that before breaking so hard you wouldn't beleive !! But hey cameras improve the flow of traffic ...... don't they ?

It was in my company car, it's only Kerensa and myself allowed to drive it anyway..

As for not signing, there are 2 test cases about to go through in superbike mag. Though I can't see how that would work on a forwards facing camera as they don't need you to sign and say that you were driving as they will have a picture of the driver. Thats why there is a push torwards the forward face cameras and traps.

Should have bought my new toy a couple of weeks earlier.

Sorry to hear that. Have you seen the video or any photos that show your face ?

If I remember the legal loophole with the declaration though, it isn't that you don't declare who was driving as you must complete that, the loophole is that if you "forget" to sign it then the prosecution can't go ahead. There must be some write-up about this on the web somewhere !

Another trick is that you overpay the fine by a pound or two. There is no mechanism for them to refund the difference which causes and administrative problem and the process hangs up. Not sure what happens to your licence in this case - whether it gets returned to you or not.

The no sign thing has 2 test cases due - they are being reported br Superbike mag at the moment.

If I just send my licence and £60 I get 3 points and thats that. If I contest or try any of the above that will lead court - which may be fine but could result in 6 points and upto £1000 fine.

as they say in Superbike mag, if its a more serious offense then it may be worth trying to get off but for the sake of 3 points and 60 quid its probably not worth the agro. It wasn't a fixed camera either, it was a mobile van unit. So if it went to court I would lose, I'm bound to end up with some f**k wit magistrate that thinks all raods should be 20

I got away with my last offense though, PC Twat put the wrong date on the ticket amongst loads of other mistakes. Good job as well as 62 in a 30 (on a bike)

Yes, probably best to pay up in this case or you might join Nige with his 4 points and £100 fine !

It was only a £65 fine and 4 points (plus £100 costs).

BTW Is a NIP a Japanese person? Why did you get one in the post? Have I missed the point of this?

I thought it stood for "Notice of Impending Prosecution"
