Why does everyone always assume it's a case of "can't" afford the petrol rather than "would like cheaper fuel"? By Tonker's logic, people who shop at Aldi and Lidl should just shoot themselves as they clearly can't afford food.
There's no technical reason why you couldn't run an RS6 on LPG but it'll cost a lot to convert. You'll need a top spec system from a very good installer. Not just chucking £1200 at some bloke round the corner, but giving nearly £3k to someone like Nicholson Mclaren. You'd need to do a lot of mileage to break even though, especually as there's still a stigma attached to LPG cars so you'll see none of your investment back on resale.

My mate bought an 54 S4 a few months ago and had it converted to LPG.
I agree not in the same league as a RS6.
It cost him £2.5k and he reckons it saves him about 30% compared to petrol.
He hasn't noticed a difference in performance and after being in it last night it sounds fantastic.
The range, if you just use LPG is limited because you can't fill the tank to capacity, something to do with expansion.
He can get about 200 miles beetwen fill ups of LPG.

It's a question worth asking - I asked the guys on the LPG stand at the Motor Show about an RS6 conversion and they stated that while it's perfectly possible in theory, the engine bay of the RS6 is very tightly packed and that they would have to do a days assessment to work out if it is physically possible to safely locate all the additional components. Because of this, you are looking at increased costs etc. I got the feeling that they had already looked into it and had several enquiries but not actually gone ahead with any conversions.
I owned an RS6 Avant and was considering the new one with LPG (not for a saving in fuel costs, but because it would give twice the range - a serious issue in the Highlands) but having looked into it, the RS will not convert due to techie issues too boring to go into.
It's not an option.
3.2 quattro with 500ft of torque is well worth looking at.

Don't do it. They are very expensive cars to fix when they go wrong. And they do go wrong. Suggest a lesser variant which won't mash the gearbox and suspension for starters.
And warranty would probably be invalid if you did this anyway- the warranty on an RS6 is your single bestest friend in the world. As I found out last year....
