My mate got married abroad last week and is having an evening function in the UK to celebrate. Now, if it was a wedding, easy. Suit and shirt, inoffensive tie, job done. But this is some sort of faux wedding, with no marriage and probably more alcohol. So do I wear a suit or do I try some sort of "smart-casual" look ?

I asked my mum, normally the all-knowing on such matters, and she didn't know! eek

My last resort is Pistonheads. Help me from looking socially inept (more so)

I'd say, smart-casual TBH. Nice strides, good shirt (not pink!) and nice shoes.

Well I would say it would still be suit and shirt as it's still a wedding celebration. Well that's what I would do here in Scotland, full kilt etc....but hey go in a Borat swimming suit, Im sure that'll do biggrin

'Smart casual' unless the invite says different.

If in doubt, you can't go wrong with a suit and no tie - just stick a tie in your pocket in case!

What he said.

Alternatively dark trousers and decent shirt and jacket.

Well, an old mate from uni. We don't speak regularly. I prefer the suit gamble.

Is it just me who thinks the young lady on the left has the most amazing "fk me" eyes ever?
I noticed as I was zooming in on, ermm...something else (image quality isn't good enough, don't bother)

Possibly. But I was only looking at her eyes...and she was coming on to me, not the other way around.

Nice lounge suit and shirt. Take a tie with you and stick it on if most other people are also wearing one, if not then chuck it in the boot/ missus's bag and keep it open neck.

Wouldn't want to go to any wedding celebration wearing anything less formal.

Dear God, give me those puppies and a litre of mildly warm baby oil and I'd be a happy man.

If in doubt, always err on the side of being overdressed.

As said above, nicely cut suit +/- tie, depending on other guests.
