Carrying around your DSLR or P+S?

I've just got myself a DSLR which I'm going to hoike around with me everywhere so I can get practicing in many different environments while I'm getting to grips with the techniques, technology and what it can do creatively.

Do you still take your DSLR with you all the time or just a P+S just in case an opportunity comes up?

I have a G9 that stays with me all the time, I tend to take it with me everywhere, my DSLR I take out whenever I am going somewhere that I am likely to want to take some pictures and I have medium format that I take out when I am going somewhere specifically to shoot, it's too heavy to carry around as a general camera. I always have something with me, just depending on what mood I'm in really!
Best thing is to do whatever feels comfortable, take loads of pictures and learn as you go along by experimenting, it's all good!

I tend to carry around my P&S G9 (which also has manual options, just no where near as easy to get to or use compared to the 5D)

The 5D only gets carried about when I know it will get used.
