I went to the NR a couple of months ago and the fella that gave me a lift had a brand new set of these bad boys fitted to his Scooby and I have to say that I was well impressed with them, rain and shine, they were really good yes
Any hoo, the time has come to replace my well worn PS2's and never mind the fact that I will save £400 on moving to Goodyears alone, ( thats nearly the cost of a years tax soon for some of us ), I don't yet know of anyone that has swapped so here I am asking if anyone has any data. They will be going on my Z4MC and I am well aware that it is a totally different animal when compared to a Scooby and that is why I am asking for opinions.

I would have thought that for 90% of the time on track and road you will notice no difference. The Goodyears in the wet may well be a little better but the PS2's are a top all round tyre...however will you ever justify the cost for 10% of at the limit performance....I don't think so.

Go for the Goodyears!!

Well after a day at Goodwood yesterday I would say that I had every pennies worth of value out of my PS11's with the canvass visible on the outer edge of the N/S tyre eek
I went straight round to the tyre house this morning and had a shiny new set of the aforementioned fitted and I must say that early indications are good. Watch this space.

They will be put on when it is time to replace the PS2, given the rave Evo review and the fact that the PS2 are getting on a bit (though can't fault them at all, except a bit pricey).

Oddly enough it appears many are making the switch come change time, as i'd always been a huge fan of the PS2's on my RS6 & E60 M5, but after both real world & motoring press reviews of the new Good Years, i decided to give them a go & am well pleased, plus the bonus is they're about £100 a corner cheaper.

Defo as good if not slightly better than the PS2's. Many folk running Audi RS's are making the switch.

Got 4 X 275/30/R19 for £780 fitted.

From what I can work out alot of the Audi (quattro) guys are loving them, where as a lot of the guys on bm3w who have made the switch are going back to PS2's.

I heard that Michelin have stopped making the PS2's 'for the foreseeable future'

A colleague had major grief finding some and ended up with Yoko's.

Has anyone else heard this rumour?

I put a set on my CSL over the winter instead of cups and trying to mindful of thew fact it's not a fair comparison vs a Cup tyre I still wasn't overly impressed with them.

^ So are you saying that Cup's in the winter are better than F1's?

That's rubbish.

They have a load more sizes being released along with zero pressure versions coming in 19" etc.

I drove about 80 miles yesterday evening in the dry, damp and rain and early indications are pretty good. I played a little in the wet conditions to see if I could provoke anything untoward but so far, so good. Time will tell I guess and different driving styles will cause different behavior but for me, they seem to be shaping up well.

Well thats interesting you say that.

Firstly try looking for 295/25/20's. I bet you can't find somewhere that is selling michies in this size. They are not making these tyres.

If you do find some, please post links as i would love to find some!

I didn't think you could get F1's in the right size for the rears of the Z4M, what size have you put on? 255/40/18?

Sorry that comment wasn't meant at you, more at a tyre retailer that probably said that as he couldn't get stock.

I know some of the major stockists that supply tyre fitters are not holding as much stock at the moment as usual, some less popular ones have to be ordered from the manufacturer instead.

Yeap, they have listed MPS2 but you'll notice there is no 'add to basket' option.

They have sold out!

I replaced PS2s with F1's on my E39 M5 and after about a week of getting used to a slightly more progressive nature to the grip, I found them to be superior in the wet and really inspiring in the dry. I will be putting them on my M3 when the current rubber is done!

copied from a Michelin email dated 11th August...

We have just been approved by BMW for the Z4M on the 18" fitment.

The details of these Michelin tyres are as follows:

Front: 225/45 ZR 18 (95Y) XL Pilot Sport PS2 * CAI 325452 (our part number)
Rear: 255/40 ZR 18 (99Y) XL Pilot Sport PS2 * CAI 940530 (our part number)

I am not sure when you need your new tyres, but unfortunately we do not yet have the above front tyres in stock, and it could take a couple of months before they are available.
The rear tyres are available.

If you need tyres straight away, we have a non star-marked version of the front tyre which will be an acceptable fitment (our CAI 978348).

There you go, so i have no chance of getting PS2's in 295/25/20 then.

Looks like i'll be changing brand.

Thanks for posting that Ian.

Does anyone have any updates on how they are getting on with the F1s - Still comparable to the PS2's ?
