URGENT: S2 cambelt query?????
Discussion
Hello
I have my car booked into my local garage for a new cambelt on Friday. It turns out mine hasn't been changed and my car is 6 years old... They have just passed the buck back to me to get hold of the parts, so I have been on the phone to Bell & Collville.
Apparently they can post the cambelt, bolts and alternator, but need to know whether it's a static or dynamic tensioner?
I don't even know what that is - let alone which one I have!
Any ideas? Does it depend on the age of the car? Mine is a standard 2002 S2 if anyone knows!
Thanks

Is that an absolute given? The best suggestion so far (from the garage) has been to order both and then send one back!!
Thanks!
ETA - just spoke to Paul at Bell & Colville (very helpful) and apparently the debate is whether it's a standard or VVC engine - as opposed to the tensioner. He can find off my chassis no, so am calling him back tomorrow and he's sending out all the parts by special delivery. Great service from Paul :-)

If it rattles like a diesel it's a VVC.
Surely you'd know if you had a 111S rather than a standard car? The extra 40bhp should give it away if the three piece diffuser doesn't.
Yes - it's a standard car. But I didn't know thats what a VVC engine meant!! If I had been asked whether it was a standard car or a 111S then I would have been able to answer.Surely you'd know if you had a 111S rather than a standard car? I may be blonde but I do let my brain cells out to play ocassionally
