Im hoping in a couple of years to get an Elise S1. However, when talking to a friend a horrible thought occurred. I'm 6'2'' (3 with gel in my hair) and I've always heard the cabins are tiny. Is this so? Please forgive this slightly frivolous thread, but I'd be distaught if after saving for years I found I didn't fit. So can anyone set my mind at rest.

A secondary issue as I'm writing. It'll be my only car, and I'd be doing maybe 300 miles a week. Is this likely to rip my last pennies from me...?

Thanks

A concerned potential elise owner

I'm 6' and have about four inches between my head and the roof (I don't have the seat all the way back either). My brother is 6'3 and fits in the passenger seat fine. I work with someone who's 6'7 (I think) and that's a squash.

i am 6ft 4in and currently own an S2 which i can comfortably sit in. Getting in and out with the roof on is not one for the faint hearted. i think i have developed a new yoga pose when trying this operation.

in regard to an S1 a friend of mine has one and i didn't have a problem with that either but i have only been in it when the roof was off. i suggest you pop down to a dealer and just sit in one.

I believe the S1 has more head room than the S2 because the seats are thinner.

6'4" and is good. They are small outside but spacious inside. Unlike some bigger "luxurious" sports cars.

300 miles a week isnt an issue either in a std Elise...the fuel economy is better than most things and as long as you stick to road tyres and not sticky track tyres they are reasonable too.

I know Tigga on SELOC, who really does use his as a commuting car gets silly mileages from tyres - like on his 3rd set now hes just passing 100K miles smile

I did 500 miles a week for a couple of years in mine without issue and there are many, many people that do 300+ as daily drivers

6'2" and my S1 is very comfortable (indeed the headroom is rather better than an S2)

I'm 6'3" and have had both S1 and S2. Its easier with a short shift gear stick and a longer boss to bring the steering wheel closer to the body and away from the knees.

Personally I couldnt be arsed using one for 300 miles a week commute, but thats me.

6'1" here, and 14 stone 10. Never had issues with space, even with the hardtop on.

A friend of mine is over 6 foot and did 50k miles in his S1 over 3 years without any complaints at all. You should be fine.

Well, again, thanks for all the feedback. I now officially am saving for an S1... I almost wish you'd all said forget the idea, for it would probably have saved me a great deal of money. However, you didn't, and now im hooked....!
