Does anyone know who fabricated and made TVR dash pods and all the alloy bits, switches, plates, etc. I'm trying to get someone to make me up a dash pod/LCD instrument/alloy switching assembly like the one fitted to the Typhon (in the pic). Obviously, would much prefer to get the original 'expert' onto the case. Cheers Lee

Hi Lee

I have some of these alloy bits email me and let me know what you want.

Don't know if they had anything to do with the electronic dashboards, but Caerbont did all of the gauges for the the Cerbs, Chims, Griffs etc. Just trying to see if they can do me a boost and air/fuel gauge in the same style for my blower conversion smile

Nick, if you've a dialogue going with Caerbont contact that looks like it might result in them being prepared to produce OEM style gauges, I could really do with an alloy bezeled ivory faced oil temp gauge! I alway understood they were reluctant to supply TVR branded stuff direct?

Nick, i could do with exactly the same, for exactly the same reason.
I assume you have seen the one in Colin Harvey's Chim which replaces the clock?

Yeah I've seen Colins one, I want to keep my clock though, so I'm going to do a bit of relocating. I'll put the boost and AFR either side of the rev tacho/speedo with even spacing so it looks as OEM as possible, then I was going to move my starter button to the foglight switch location and put the foglight next to the dash lights button under the dash since I never use it. I was then thinking of moving the ignition barrel somewhere else to hide it as the keys hitting my knee have always been a bit annoying. Then maybe remake the steering column cowl to look more more like the modern tivs and replace the MIL light with a bezzeled led to show me which map I'm on.

It'll probably be a bit of a mission but should look nice and work well when I'm done. Finally I might try and get a combined water temp and oil pressure like Caerbont did for the Cerb, and replace the old oil pressure with an oil temp gauge.

So far I've only got hold of the guy who does their custom gauges and have sent him an email. I've not got anything back but if he's willing to do a batch of them I'll be sure to let you all know and we can do a bulk order to keep costs down. Hopefully it'll be a little simpler than the Emerald group buy though!

Ah, well you are way ahead of me with your thinking.
I will watch your progress with interest, and probably just go for the AFR to begin with.

Only thing with the AFR, if you want it to be reliable/accurate as it should be, I'm unsure that this is the best source given the errrr quality of the TVR oem stuff. Admittedly it would look 'right' but I think I'd prefer that at least to be reading right too

I agree, but do you have any reason to believe that it woudn't be accurate? Feel free to PM me to avoid a name a shame binning smile

Yeah same, so I would ideally have them re-face a dynojet gauge. Not sure if they can do this but I can't see why not??

SC Power use the Auto Meter Wideband AFR meter which uses the Bosch WB sensor. I have the same make, but the digital version which gives you both digital reading and an LED style rev gauge around the outside. The other avantage with the digi version is it records the peak figures during "Wide Open Throttle" which you can recall at the touch of a button on the gauge at any time (useful when on track as the last thing you're looking at on WOT is the gauges)

Ah I'm not using the autometer gauge as I'm going with the wideband kit from Dynojet. It uses a stepper controlled analogue style gauge which looks similar to the standard ones. It comes with a configureable led which can be set to come on at any stage eg low AFR and can handle its own datalogging - but I will probably log it via the Emerald ECU.

I'm hoping Caerbont can reface this gauge and knock me up a boost one similar to the turbo gauge they do which would be perfect!

Quick update:

Spoke to Andy at Caerbont today and he seems to think that this won't be a problem. He's pricing up the various options for me and will let me know tomorrow for re-facing AFR gauges and producing TVR style 10psi boost gauges, oil temp and combined water temp/oil pressure gauges. The ballpark prices seem pretty reasonable but I'll hold off posting them until I have some actual quotes.

I'll post up a price list and stuff so we can do a small bulk order to keep costs down if possible. Post up here if you would like me to price up anything else gauge related smile
