On the voting form for the AGM we are asked to vote for or against a number of people for various positions.

As a relatively new member I have to confess that I don't know any of these people. The only one I've heard of is Mr Lacey and only because he told us all to shut up and do what we're told on a previous thread.

As none of them are opposed I suppose it doesn't really matter but it would have been nice if a few biographical details had been included so that we could make an even slightly informed decision.

Just MHO.

Might also have been nice to have some choices!
Then again I haven't put my name forward so can't really complain!
Hope you noticed the vote on the Membership Fee increase at the top of page 2?

Not exactly highlighted is it and with the signitures bit being at the foot of page 1 it implys thats the end of the voteing and theres no more issues, very sneaky IMHO
I would love to see the stats on the number of forms sent in and the numbe rof people who missed the question If it was a Building Society voting form for conversion to a bank they wouldn't get away with that, the forms would have to be re-printed and re-issued

Interesting. Do I detect a trend here?

[Devils advocate mode]
So if the 'majority' voted against the re-election of Mr Lacey, or any of the nominations for that matter as there are no second choices, what would happen

I was actively looking for the fee increase vote and still found it difficult to find (but then again, Mrs Whatever always says that I'm useless at looking for things. I blame it on her "tidying". Anyway, I digress...)

I did wonder about why this item alone was sited after the authorising signature, but I naturally assumed I was being far too cynical and suspicious...

Gents,

There is no trend, no witchhunt, no animosity. Not on my part anyway.

My intention in intervening was to try to put some misconceptiions right - nothing more. It just got interpreted how the various readers wanted to intepret it and not how it was meant.

It was also not meant as a "shut-up" because I want to hear what the membership are thinking. If is came across that way then I apologise. But as PetrolTed's own rules say (among others) treat others with the respect with which you would like to be treated.

There are a lots of things I aim to improve in the Club but if I try to tell you, someone will misinterpet what I am saying, so I will stay quiet. You can judge me (and the new Committee) after one year, that is every members right. If the way we do things has not improved and the events have not got better, despite my and the committee's best efforts, and we are still getting valid complaints, you will not have to vote me out, I'll stand down.

What I am asking is that we (all of us) look to the future, stop the in-fighting, work together and make things better.

A rough idea would be nice, go on spill the beans

Can't say fairer than that really, as I've said before I'll give you till May

Sprinbok, if you intend to be a good Chairman, then the put down on the 'other' thread is going to make you more enemys than friends - intended or not.

Also, you can't do a George Dubya on us - trust me, it will be better, but I can't tell you why yet. Oh, and can we have another 35 grand please. Ask yourself, if you knew very little about the inner workings of TVRCC and your only contact with the club was a monthly magazine and a yearly demand for the subscription, wouldn't you want more information? Wouldn't you want to know the agenda?

You can't ask us to trust you without us knowing what you intend to do, or is it a case of 'we have a load of ideas, but don't know if we can deliver, so say nothing'?

Hello Simon. Perhaps it would help if ROs were seen as 'MPs' and not 'Club Officials'. In other words, that they exist to represent the membership to the Committee, not the other way round.

Ultimately of course you can't please all the people all the time and PHers are famously untameable. I'm actually neutral on this one and wish you every success in your venture!

Going back to the original posting on this thread, I do have to agree. As a member I have an option to vote for who I think will do the best job, but The names mean nothing to me. Is there any way that a few lines could be written on each of the candidates and may be posted up on the TVRCC web site? Or my votes are not really worth anything as they are just blind. Bit like a game of pin the tale on the donkey. (PS. Before I get flamed there is nothing personal what so ever meant by that last comment)

I hear what you are saying Simon and we all appreciate that there are always people ready to snipe from the sidelines but if you suggest that they do the job themselves they run for miles. So well done for standing up to be counted.

However, you are seeking election (presumably because you believe you can improve on what went before) and you say you have lots of ideas. Would it not therefore be reasonable for you to share your thoughts with the electorate? At the moment you're a little like a politician who says "we'll make everything better but we won't tell you how until you elect us".

Gents,

I agree with you there should have been more information given on who is who and what they will do
for the club at the time of the AGM.

If you want to look into what the committee does look at the minutes of the last couple of years look at the TVRCC website.

I am though a first time nomination (and not up for re-
election) and cannot influence ANYTHING until I am on the committee. Next year's AGM will be handled differently.

I did try and give an outline of the areas I will be focusing on getting better in the other thread, but just got shot down by another PH'er.

At the risk of someone else having a cheap shot at me I will tell you who I am ...... because you asked.

I am 42, run my own business, joined the club in 1993, bought an S3, started mid-Sussex region (which became East Sussex) and ran the region until 2000. I now own a 4.2 Cerbera after two Chimaeras, do not talk nuts and bolts and am not an old f**t,I have organised LeMans for the club for the last three years, the coaches on Friday night and got the cars into the Parades des Pilotes last year.

My other half used to be the Club Secretary a few years ago, so between us we have a good idea of how the club works.

Why do I want the post? Because I can see the club drifting and someone has to stand up, be counted and do something about it.

So there you go, not electioneering, straight facts.

I care about this Club. East Sussex is a superb region eith a great RO and members, welcomes anybody who come along, organises tons of events and I know that many other regions are like us. This is the clubs strength.

I have cut short an overseas trip to be at the AGM and sincerely hope that we can sort out our problems and move forward. And before anuyone says that I am telling you all to "shut up", I am not.

Hope this gives you more info and I will be able to give more when I have a clearer idea of the challenges we face and what I can do about them.

Simon, that's all we want. Information and a bit of openness. I see what you mean regarding reading the minutes on the website, but we want things to be different going forward - as I am now sure you do too, but what are the plans for the club?

I know you don't want this to develop into a Q+A session, but can you say that those whose only contact with the club through the magazine are going to notice a difference?

A potential Chairman who's prepared to stand up on PH and deal with the 'front line' is appreciated and is to be respected.

One quick question while I'm filling in my voteing form
are the National Events manager and her deputy new blood, I imagine so as the write up is by a Richard Mayoh and I don't see that name on the nominations, and have they got anything to say for themselves anywhere

Not my place to do this but here goes -

Jane Payne (Events Co-ord) is the ex-deputy events co-ord - she organised Back Home for tbe last couple of years with the Blackpool region. Tuscan driver.

Colin Last (Asst Co-ord) is new. He's a do'er and helped set up and run the TVRCC stand at Festival of Speed. Tuscan driver.

Laura Hadley (Club Secretary)is new - an ace lady, who will be a real asset to the Committee. Her motto is "if anything is worth doing it's worth doing well". Look out for much more timely and detailed minutes from her. Drives a Griffith and shoots clays for Sussex.

Hope this helps.

It certainly does
Why couldn't this information have been on the voting slip
Some of the names I recognise like the 2 B's in charge of TrackDays, and they seem to do a fine job, Pietro, who's also been doing a fine job for a number of years, but if you were new to the club you wouldn't know this
