It's true folks. Following a possibly-not-quite-entirely-on-message posting, TVRCC is trying to find Simpo Two and give him a nasty ticking off for - er - exercising his right to free speech.

Oh, it's so petty it's laughable. I thought I left this kind of tosh behind when I sacked my boss.

Manhunt? Not that I reply to many posts at Pistonheads membership fees, surely that is a vote by the membership as I see it, Not too sure what will occur if the membership vote against. 5k wasted you have previosly said, I must be honest if you read my article in Sprint for June 2003, many members were not happy about it, and in particular to the fact that the launch was at South Wales and we were unaware, and TC made comment about my entry.

I have been a member of the club for the last five years and RO for South Wales for the last year, yes ok I do wonder if on times the regions could get a bit more back, even a few pounds.

Not too sure if I read any matters you wished to bring up in the RO meet on 27/9/03.

What does the TVR car club have for me, for many years I wished to own a TVR and for a long time it was a dream, but I got there. I have met and aquired many new and good friends and in some respects it has become an obsession.

It is a demoractic society and I respect your views, but you have the choice as to membership. I wonder as to your comment as to the last boss, do you refer to the previous RO.

Thankfully as to the South Wales Region we are there to enjoy the cars and not the politics.

You mention that there is a manhunt for you, to have a ticking off. I have wondered myself if you wish to actually reveal which region you are from, personally I see no problem with the issue. If there is a problem within the club lets get it out in the open and move on.

Hope I have not bored you all,

Cheers.

I did wonder why this was posted - I mean, you can just click the link for the name and .... er, ok see what you mean now - changed all of your personal details eh Simpo Two....

Anyway, I know which region you represent - so lets say I will spill all for say £5 - just to off-set the membership increase?

Oh, and thats a joke for the hard of thinking...

Confess your identity - membership number and region.
Youve nothing to be afraid of - we live in a democracy!

Not sure I understand this one.

Simpo Two - if you want to deal in facts then go ahead, but I don't think vague threads like this are in anyone's interests.

OK, facts as I understand them. I believe it began when I said that I disagreed with the Club's proposal to increase fees by £5. Coming after their - shall we say questionable - decision to spend 1,000 times that sum to get their logo on a racing car, it does seem rather insensitive.

I subsequently heard that the TVRCC wish to contact me, one assumes to administer a stern reprimand. They clearly can't bring themselves to send me an e-mail directly; instead they take the sneaky defensive middle-management approach. Are they going to try to contact everyone weho disagreed?

I mean, for christ's sake folks, we have TVRs and get involved in Club stuff for enjoyment, not to be put in detention and told to write out 100 times 'I must not disagree with the TVRCC' FFS!

Perhaps Alaistair Campbell has found a new job after all.

Depends on who 'they' are. I don't think it's co-incidence that all three Directors of the TVRCC Ltd have resigned. Having spoken to one of them, I can understand why. I'm not a fan of AGMs but I'm going along to this one with an open mind and to hear what the new committee's views are.

It would also be interesting to see the accounts for the year ended May 2003. In 2002, the club made a profit of £40000 and membership has increased 10% since then. Economy of scale should mean operational costs per member have decreased, increasing the profit. I've drawn my own conclusions as to why 'they' want another £35000 income from memberships, others can reach their own conclusions.

Edited to correct a uncharacterisic typo!

Ah, well if they'd troubled to mail *me* with their concerns, I'd know for sure. Perhaps someone with a copy of the offending e-shot could post it here for all to see. I think it's time for some transparency.

But PetrolTed on the TVRCC Board sounds like a fine idea!

mmm in my opinion is was 5k well spent, ie if it helps increase the TVR profile then don't we all stand to benefit from that in the end?

This IMO of course

If the TVRCC hadn't 'found' the cash would TVR have pulled out of Le Mans?
And wasn't a Mr P Wheeler in a recent Times Rich List

IMHO people who give a damn are in very short supply. I bet it's to make sure you are invited to the AGM.

In theory possibly yes. In practice I don't think it raised TVRs profile (they were there anyway) and I can't see how the general membership was supposed to benefit, apart from seeing the TVRCC logo on a spoiler on the front of Sprint. But there are other threads on this subject, so I'll leave it there.

TVR didn't enter LeMans, Salisbury Racing with DeWalt did. - it was not a factory entered team but they did provide some support. How rich anyone may be does not come into play.

Each driver had to pay for his drive and a driver(s) had a tough time raising funds. As I understand it, this is where the Club was asked to help.
