Gordon & G8 commitments - Petition....
Discussion
Seeing our 'leader' at the last G8, and hearing him promise away huge chunks of our rights and finances, got me a little annoyed.
So if you agree, please feel free to review and add your signature: http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/G8Commitment/

I Agree with simpo here. The people who think they're making a difference vote in internet polls.

They take no notice whatsover from these. In fact its even worse they use them to their advantage.
politician said yesterday"Look only 32 people out of 60 million dissagree with what we are doing at the G8."
These poles do two things.
Keep up busy and make us think we are making a difference in the great deocracy of ours and also validate their actions.
even if one came up where 50 million people signed they would ignor it.

Most petitions just ask for something, i.e. please don't build a bypass next to my house.
I think the difference with my petition is that it specifically relates to party manifesto and the fact that they changed it without public consultation. i.e. I am implying that this is a non-democratic process. With signatures they have to respond and basically confirm that they have changed their policy...
Or you can sit at home and whinge about the government and ensure you remain in the silent majority.
This is a matter I feel strongly about and would like the Government to explain their actions to me and the country.

John, I salute the fact you did this, many people would just tut in their armchair and change a tv channel.
However, I think the situation in this country has gone beyond petitions. They will sadley achieve nothing, the criminals in power dont care about us AT ALL. Public demonstrations are needed to show the criminals in whitehall that the public mean business,
Getting the apathetic masses out of their living rooms and away from the 150 channels of reality TV s
t and propaganda put across by our friendly state TV (the bbc incase we weren't sure) might prove somewhat of a challenge.
10 years ago we were all saying 'this country is going to the dogs...' nt any more. This country has GONE to the dogs and is screwed, possibly taking generations to put right. Angry about that yet anyone?

I think the problem is that most people don't really understand just how bad a state the country finances are in... The NHS funding has grown by 50%, yet the NHS continues to perform at or below the levels it did 10 years ago. The armed forces are woefully under-funded, yet they are expected to fight on 3 fronts that weren't there 10 years ago. We have the most generous benefits system IN THE WORLD, yet we have rising unemployment and rocketing violent crime rates! However, I think the situation in this country has gone beyond petitions. The majority of the population do realise that we are in a bad way, but maybe not the depth of the problems, but because they can 'see' a general election then everyone has laid back to wait for that. Unfortunately for Cameron and crew, unless he starts telling people how it is and how long it's going to take to fix then everyone will expect an instant miracle fix when they win. However, the Tories are between a rock and a hard place really. The rock: if they tell it how it is then the apathy vote will count as people will decide either not to vote or that they might as well leave Labour in to fix the mess. The hard place: if they don't say anything and get in because everyone wants change, then when the change can't happen immediately they'll be voted out 4 years later.
What really scares me though, is the extreme parties such as BNP will make huge gains through discontent voting and god forbid may even get some MP's within the next two elections!
