DVD movies onto PSP - how?

Just to complicate things further I have an old Mac Mini, although I could use my other half's laptop running Vista.

Ideally I'd like some software I don't have to pay for too. At the moment everything I've tried either looks fine on the computer but doesn't play on the PSP even though it's supposedly the right resolution, won't rip straight from DVD or takes literally days to run.

No idea for the Mac Im afraid.

However, for a pc, a good combo is "dvd decrypter" and "pspvideo9", both free as far as I know. But for a few quid, "dvdfabgold" or "platinum" are pretty good, with a trial version.

I use the iPod version of their software and have no problems. On my P4 machine it rips and encodes at near enough real time so not quick
