ps the Golf was the fastest Y class (ie RWYB) car on the day with a huge turbo and quattro drivetrain.
I was the second quickest

Anything can be made to go fast, but not everything can be made to look good ! I went to Santa Pod and got my arse handed to me by a Vauxhall Nova and an assortment of other heavily modded cars. Horses for courses and all that !

I raced a Corsa at York and only beat him cos I was quicker off the line with rear wheel drive, he was catching me all the way.

Im not complaining.
I understand where these guys are coming from, wolf in sheeps clothing or sleepers.
All fantastic fun wether your getting thrashed by a 70's Capri or blowing away a modern Porker.
Its really about testing and tuning your car on the day.

How 'honest' is it to say something like 'Fiat 500 -v- Lamborghini' when pretty much all that's left of the 'lesser' car is the body shell?

I still want one though.

Pretty much standard 450 with 98k on it.
All i did was swap the rears for R888s and fitted a simple 60 bhp nitrous kit.
I was hoping for a mid to low 13 so came away very happy with a 12.2
My times over the weekend....

I think i need to get the car on a rolling road.
I bought it last year from a guy near London. It has been serviced from day 1 by Fernhursts and covered 91k. Its now on 98k and i serviced it myself last time.
To run the times it has, it has to be a very healthy engine so im interested to see what its putting out, especially with the gas.

Well done, and nice videos. Don't worry about getting beaten by the MK2 Golf. A well sorted 20vT Syncro Golf is a weapon.

Do you run a prgressive NOS controler or just run it on WOT? I like the stripes too.

Not worried at all about the Golf... it had 4 wheel drive and 500bhp and was only testing apparantly!
I had a controller but it wasnt working along with the WOT microswitch.
So we bodged up a pushbutton dangling on wires near the steering wheel.
It was a bit tricky to time right but i think it worked ok in the end.
The mix might have been a little lean also as i only had a few jets to play with.
Ended up running with a 120 (ie 60 bhp) in the gas and a 50 in the fuel.
Big benefits also came from dropping to 10psi in the rear R888's.
Bigger jets and maybe an 11 next time unless something goes bang.

Nice videos and pics, enjoyed them much, quite funny the first two. I wouldn't worry about the golf either. What's the plan then, more nos or a supercharger? hehe

I was level with a standard 1.6 vtec Honda Civic a few weeks ago, that was a little embarrising. whistle

By my guestimmations i reckon upping to 100 bhp nitrous and a little luck will see me in the 11's.
Im thinking of entering a series next year just for the craic.
Not sure what yet though.confused

I was there as a spectator.

Well done dbv8. thumbup

Drag racing is a lot more skilful than it looks, and the guys you were up against take it very seriously and invest large amounts of cash.

- Will take my tiv up one day if (to be honest) I have the balls.smile

Let's see more PHers at what is a great little venue, and so friendly.

...Some lovely machinery in the car park too: smile

Give it a go!
Its a bit nerve wrecking at first but then you realise at a RWYB most people are in the same boat, then its just massive fun all the way.
No need to be ashamed of being beat by a hot rod as thats what its all about.
You wont regret it. But you might get addicted.

I've had quite a few goes over the years in various cars that I've owned. It's great fun.
