I'm thinking of buying an '03 Audi TT Roadster.

Can anyone let me know what to look out for to avoid any future large bills and buy a good example?

Any commmon problems or recalls?

Any help appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi Bob,

Good choice...wink

There's a load of info in the half dozen links below, but key issues to look out for are:

Dashpod (FOC replacement under extended Audi warranty)
Cambelt, waterpump, tensioners and pulley's change @ 5yrs/50k
ARB and bushes
Coil packs (not a big issue nowadays)

Usual things with roadsters, like ensuring the hood's in good condition, no rips, tears etc., that the electric windows drop slightly when opening and rise again afterwards. Other than that, the interior's wear well, and shouldn't rattle or squeak. The leather (standard on the 225, as is BOSE) should be in good condition too.

Yep, mines a 52 plate (03 model) and have had 2 coil packs go over those 6 years. All had the newer part numbers on them as confirmed by the audi techincian that came out the first time (was in the 3 year warranty). Like anything they do go after a while.

may be a bit of a stupid question , but what exactly do the coil packs do?

They sort of replace the old fashioned ignition leads/distributor etc.
