My dog's just been diagnosed with cancer.....
Discussion
....and he's been given FOUR WEEKS!
He's a standard poodle who is 10 years old, but we're all down. Even our other dog seems down.
And it all only started last Wednesday with a lump on his leg. He had to go 50 miles away to have an operation, and tests have revealed he's got a type of cancer in the blood system
Life's such a b

Sorry to hear your news mate.
I lost my best friend and companion Louie my Boxer 7 weeks ago to the same.
Small lump on leg diagnosed as 'mast cell tumour' very aggressive cancer.
He fought it hard but passed on his 10th birthday, bless him.
Never forgotten.. Feel for you at the moment.
Just give him loads of hugs and let him know your there for him as I'm sure you will.
Sad times..

Thank you guys, it's comforting to hear your comments. And I feel for all those who have been in the same situation.
We haven't had him for the 10 years. We've had him 5, after his previous were going to put him down because they were moving abroad and didn't want to put him into quanteen for 6 months
I just fear at the moment for his leg. Like I mentioned, he had an op last week on his rear leg. Since then, he's struggled to put weight on it, and his paw is constantly curled round, so he's scrubbing the top of the paw along the ground. Now we've had dogs in the past, who've had leg problems, and they had to put down. I just hope this won't be the case here, and he recovers enough to enjoy what time he has.
Thanks again,
Darren

Just an update for those of you who posted on here.
Many thanks, once again, for the kind words in this thread.
Today was the day. The pain was getting to him, and he wasn't eating properly. We knew it would have to come sooner or later.
We took him to the vets to be put down earlier this afternoon
It was extremely quick, but the main saving grace is that he had over 8 weeks with us - double what the doctors had estimated.
Regards,
Darren
