Hi,

Me and wifey are thinking of going to Vegas, has anyone got any recommendations?

Book direct with the hotel? Then get a flight?

Package deal?

Can you book flights from the US so I could effectively pay it all in USD?

Cheers

yes and yes...

Cheapest way right now is to book direct with the hotel (go for the Bellagio - stunning hotel!) and book the flights with United or American from their .dom site - because its from Heathrow it will be cheaper, plus you have the exchange rate on your side.

If they wont let you, use a site like travelocity.com

and well worth visting, we loved it... just bear in mind you'll walk futher than you realise! have frequent drinks!

Yes, book direct with the hotel, asap for the cheapest rates, if rates go down you can then ring the hotel direct and they will amend your booking to the cheaper rate.
Check fatwallet.com for discount codes for hotels.

I have stayed at the Bellagio and the MGM Signature, preferred the signature as nicer room, suite for the price of a bellagio normal room, newer also. Pool complex was better at MGM too, you have the signature pools and free access to the normal MGM pools. We booked from a room owner on vrbo.com as was half the price of the mgm rate. signature is half privately owned and half mgm owned.

Check tripadvisor.com for hotel reviews and pics

By the way, here is my Vegas thread..

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

The Bellagio was highly reccomended, and it didn't dissapoint (and also had a nice touch you dont need to go through the gaming floor to get to the rooms as you do in most casinos)

Book a package, it really is the best way. The Bellagio is the only place to stay......quality.

We did, although about 3 years ago, had to walk past the tables and gaming machines

If you have an aversion to tables and slots you probably went to the wrong place.

I was there a couple of months ago at a trade show - it's a wacky place, make no mistake! I didn't stay at the Bellagio, but I had a quick look round. Also the Venetian is pretty much of the scale - if you can go to the 'Blue Man Group' there.

Regarding prices for flights/hotels. Try calling dialaflight and I'll be surprised if you manage to beat thei prices: http://www.dialaflight.com/

hmmm, perhaps it depends on the tower - we were lucky (booked a partial view of the fountains) and ended up in the Spa tower (newer and nicer apparantly).

Ahh that explains it, you weren't in the main hotel building like we were.

IIRC You can get to any room through reception without going anywhere near a table.

Also go on a helicopter ride down the Grand Canyon. It's worth going on a decent one (for a couple of hours) to get a real feel for it. It's pretty impressive. So why people are in the mood for posting pics:
