Anyone who's dealt with Adobe for corporate or educational licensing won't be in the least bit surprised. They are the market leaders with little competition and they are well aware of that fact.

If you know where a fully operating Mac version of 2.0 is, then I'm all ears

I'm not one for pirating, but fook'em!

This is a real shame, so much for a global economy.

I know how expensive it is to develop good software but they could price LR a lot lower and sell it in huge numbers with a little creative marketing..

Who nows they might even make some cash ot of it whilst removing a lot of the pirated copies (as long as they found the right price point).

I may be missing something (it is late and I have an almost empty glass in front of me) but the comparison should be made using the ex-VAT price surely?

Even so, it can be very unfair how pricing varies from country to country, but it happens with many other products.

The 'global' economy is all about given companies global benefits, very little actually benefits the consumer.

I could reel off dozens of examples of how much we are ripped off here.

Have you actually tried buying the upgrade on-line though?

I've just purchased the Lightroom 2 upgrade and the Photoshop CS3 upgrade. Both as downloads and although the shop initially showed a VAT levy of 21% the final amount charged to me does NOT include VAT so...

Lightroom 2 Upgrade charge was £69
Adobe Photoshop CS3 charge was £139

This makes the comparison a little more favourable.

Note I'm an resident here in the UK and have a VAT number. The Adobe Software store for the UK is in Ireland
