BTR diff get in normal use? Whilst mine is in a Tuscan, I know they are also fitted to Chimaeras and probably the remainder of the Sp6 range as well. Anyone any clues or ideas please? Also, does anyone know the size of the oil filler nut on the diff? I know it's larger than 1" as that's my largest spanner, but I can't get a ruler etc across it to gauge the size.

Filler thread is 7/8"UNF @35lbft

Drain thread is M12 @20lbft with loctite thread seal

Do run hot and will melt the plastic on the diff label, guess up to 85DegC

I have spare Hydratrak going if someone wants more traction!

Graham, thanks for the info and pictures - and I know everyone says it - but that IS a very clean Sagaris!! Ref the filler and drain plugs, they are obviously the thread sizes, do you know the nut sizes (or are all TVR owners nuts of the highest size!!!???!!!). Assuming I can get the nut off the side, should the oil be level with the bottom of the hole do you know?

My 'nut in question' is on the off side of the diff, visible with the wheel removed or with my head under the car (jacked up of course on axle stands before the H&S crowd come here).

Not 100% but 1 1/4" A/F 32mm - will check and re post

Diff oil should be level with the bottom of the hole when the car is horizontal EP85W-140 oil OK

Any takers on the Hydratrak?

G

Found that my fill plug was 1 1/8" AF, same as engine sump plug.

On the bottom pic of Grahams, you can see the toothed wheel that the speedo sensor picks up off. Does anyone know what the 'module' size of it is? I'm advised that module sizes are standard sizes.

Graham, Once again, brill pics - If only I had s Sagaris I'd be sure to be in line to buy one of your workshop manuals when it comes out - still most should be fairly similar to the Tuscan I'd expect, so maybe I should have my cheque book at the ready?

the term module is usually understood to mean the pitch diameter in millimeters divided by the number of teeth.
So have you measured (or do you know) the PCD? Or can you just tell me the module number?

I'd imagine that if the hydratrack is a direct swap for the Tuscan BTR diff, and the BTF diff fits the Chimaera that it would fit - but don't take my work for it - -after all it's Sat night and a few glasses of wine and whisky (Single malt - that's another thread!) have passed my lips.

You will have to come over to ireland sometime and try our whiskeys, they are better than scottish whisky but then i am biased !! i suppose the next question is,if it fits would it make any sense to fit it when the BTR unit does a good job of putting the power down ? are there any other benifits ?

Hydratrack was an option on chimps. But I don't know if they were fitting the exact same hydratrack unit.
