Wonder if anyone can help....My next door neighbour - an Hungarian Guy with limited English, hence me posting for him - has just fitted an uprated new Turbo, and higher capacity injectors to his 20v 1.8 Turbo passat. Everything works, but as soon as you put your foot down, the ECU goes 'WTF is going on here??' and shuts everything down.
Does anyone know where he can take the car to have it remapped? (or any other suggestions).

Many thanks.

Dr G

How far are you prepared to go?

The boys at Regal Autosport in Southampton are very experienced with the 1.8T but I'm not really familiar with any of the tuners further north.

Thanks Dr.G - Southhampton is a bit of a trek with a car that shuts itself down at any speed over 60 - but should be a bit quicker on the way back smile

The ECU's on these engines are sensitive things, and you can't tamper with the engine that much without upsetting it. Hence what has happened here.. It definitely needs mapping.
Must be shooting for some big power if the injectors have been upgraded? The problem is, some tuning companies may not want to know if someone besides them has done the work, and perhaps fitted parts that differ to what they would have used.
Still, there are no shortage of good companies that know a lot about these engines and can map them. I've had great experiences with JabbaSport before. So thats another to add to the list of companies to check out.
