Looking at the shape of the frame / general layout, would this style lend itself more to a fold-up style of machine for commuters?? From seeing some of the wierd and wonderful fold-up bikes on the train to London each day, they all seem to have too many folds and bends, whereas a simple frame shape like that could perhaps just have two folds? (OK I'm no engineer so happy to be proved wrong!!)
Not sure if I would want to sit that low in London traffic, but given the need for an ultra lightweight machine, maybe something along these lines could produced? There appears to be a big market for the fold-up bikes in London and they seem to all be around the £750+ price range.
There you go thats given you something to think about this afternoon Justin

Cruising speeds can be near 30 MPH, while a standard "safety" cycle manages 15-22.
Cruising speed of 30mph? Blimey.Linked brakes sounds a very, very bad idea. Also surely the back wheel would be better off using a conventional calliper style brake as this would save costs?
Will have to pay you a visit and have go on your new toy, how easy is it to put the power through whilst sitting? I alway find at the gym i can pedal faster and a higher resistance on a conventional style bike, (though gym bikes don't really compare to a real bike anyway).
Hi Justin
There is a old fella who often peddles one of these very contraptions along Windmill Ave, right at Wickies lights, along Pytchley road and up the hill past the golf club most sunny mornings around 7.30.
Raise yourself early and have a look !
You can't miss him because of the line of cars trying to pass him.
He looks remarkably calm lying almost horizontal infront of a 4X4 driven by the typical irate commuter.
