Over the summer i decide to renew the main weatherstrips(one runs across the top of the windscreen frame and down the side of the pillars and the rear one runs where the rear of the targa hatch meets the car and down the sides)as they had hardend on the outside and got pouress on the inside, you could press them and watch the water run out.

On the corners&at the ends of the weatherstrip there are small plastic dowel pins which you have to prize out carefuly first, then starting at either end carefully pull w/strip and using a small sharp blade to assist tear w/strip off, dont worry if you leave some rubber behind as you can use a small screwdriver to scrape of residue and a cloth&white spirit to clean up,also use a clean paint brush to brush out reccess's.

When doing the front weatherstrip i found the top corners of the frame(underneath the W/strip) were showing signs of rust, yes rust,so i took the oppertunity to clean these areas up and coat them with paint.

When the paint and surface was cleaned and dry i laid the new W/strip in DRY just to make sure they lined up with the dowel holes, then i pulled back one side at a time and used a spray glue along the surface of the the area where the W/strip was to adhere to i sprayed the area a few times to give a generous coat then stuck down one side and repeated on the other side, now use a small screwdriver to tuck edges of w/strip into the channels, refix dowel pins and use the same procedure on rear W/strip.

Just a tip,If useing spray glue have a few trial runs on some old cardboard just to get used to the pressure of the can.

Make sure to coat the new w/strip with rubber lubricant at regular intervals to protect them from the elements.
