Some pictures I took from the Donington Park charity day ‘wishes4kids’

The weather managed to stay dry(ish) so it turned out to be a good day.

I saw a red GTR on local news tonight and wondered if it was a PH'er. They didn't show Dave's car, bad luck chap. I bet there were some ecstatic kids there today. The police car would have been good for rides in as well, especially if they flicked on the sirens!

Thanks for the invite.....

thanks to Lee Champion for getting us on the event and Russell from wishes4kids for organising such a well run event.

there was over 400 kids attending the day and about 25 cars, tvrs, lotus, bmw police car, porshe, westies, caterhams etc

we were all very busy running kids round the track, which apparently is used for police training. I had an intermittent fault which i thought was an electrical (coil or a lead) but on the way home i broke down, i checked everything electrical and could not find any faults. Myself and my stepson noticed the carter fuel pumps were running very quietly.... i checked the swirl pot and it was almost empty.... yep the original fuel filter was blocked so we stripped it and cleaned it by the side of the road and hey presto sortedsmile

so quite an eventful day.

ps i also gave a little girl a run round the track and then had to do a photoshoot for the Leicester Echo, fame at last. I finished one ride and this pretty young blonde said to me "are you doing me next" lots of answers crossed my mind but i restained myself.

A great day and a real pleasure to see the kids smile. All the Ultimas stood up well to the days event. It was a very well organised event and a credit to the 'Wishes4kids' charity. Nice pics Ash!

Thanks for helping out guys, apparently we were on the BBC East Midlands news last night. Not sure how much they covered, but i remember pulling into the pits to drop a little girl off and having a 2' hairy microphone and massive camera lens shoved into the cockpit for an interview! I will have a look on the BBC i-player to see if it is on there.

Thanks again to everyone, Russel appreciated having some exotic specialist cars there. The kids appreciated them more though, I am positive. I have completely trashed my rear Yoko 48's on the two lairy corners, they are on the wear indicators now and they were brand new 4 weeks ago!

Sunday was a bril. day out.

Must have completed over 50 laps (one lap per child)and the reaction on the kids faces was priceless.

One little girl was a picture, on the bends she looked positively terrified, then on the straights she was beaming her head off.

Must admit when I got home I was exhausted - great day though and I know Dave, Kyle and myself would love to do it next year.

Martin.
