Did my first paid photography job at the weekend for our education department at work. I've now finished processing the images and want to include a basic license with them on the cd that says that they can use them for promotional material (web and printed) without restriction, but that they cannot sell / re-license the photo's etc. Also that I should be credited as the photographer in any publication and that the copyright remains with me. Simple really but do you think I can find anything remotely useful on the net??

So, does anyone here have some simple wording that I could adapt for my purposes?

BTW, I'll post some samples up as soon as the client has seen the images.

I presume outside of work time? If not then you'll probably have a clause in your contract the gives them copyright anyway.

Yes, it was done in my time and an invoice has been requested. It's not for a huge amount but I'm more than happy with it. smile

Doesn't your original post contain about 95% of what you actually need to say? How about just re-writing that?

As far as I'm aware, it doesn't have to be in latin to be legally valid.

True, but I was after something a little more formal than "Behave yourselves or I'll come and kick your back doors in!".wink

If it comes to it then I'll cobble something together myself but I'd rather use something that looks like a lawyer has at least seen it. hehe

Why would you give them copyright, just licence for their usage and keep ownership of the copyright.

Copyright has not been given away. I think Agent006 was just suggesting that if I had done them for work, on work time, then I probably wouldn't own copyright anyway.

Yep. Most employee contracts have a clause stating that any work done on conpany time is automatically the property of the employer.
