Hi, I have recently been accepted onto a mechanics apprenticeship at Sheffield College, on the condition that i can find a job in the motor trade. I am a 23 year old with a good work ethic, and high grades at GCSE and A-level (mainly A's and B's), and i have a passion for cars of all shapes and sizes. I am prepared to work for minimum wage, as i desperately want to to get a foothold in the industry. If anybody is prepared to take on an apprentice, please let me know, it would be much appreciated! smile
Thankyou

Go to www.yell.com put in a search for all the garages in the area. Then Go on www.applegate.? , and write to every MD of every garage with your CV and a covering letter, and follow each and every letter up with a phone call, 2 days after sending it, and then come back and ask for help - and we will help you.

I think that you should be able to find over 100 suitable employers within a couple of miles of you.

+1

I was in your situation not long ago, so i sent my CV and covering letter to all the main dealers in my area, i even sent 2 to some places and a couple of days later i had a phone call from an Audi main dealer (the one i sent 2 CV's to hehe) asking if i would be interested in going in for an interview, i was later offered the job, so ye best thing you can do is send your CV's to as many garages as you can.

Also another thing, if possible i would try and get an apprenticeship with a main dealer as they prefer to train their mechanics from scratch and are not interested in you after you have been to college as the majority of car companies will send you to a specially selected college (i have to attend a special VAG college every 2 months for 5 days)

Good luck with finding a position
