Which > £50k Car?
Discussion
So what would you go for if you had £50k to spend on a car?
I am currently considering the likes of a 2005/6 997S or maybe an older 2000 Ferrari 360...
What would you go for? What are the usual suspects in this budget?
Should I be put off by the older F360's with 25k miles? For some reason a Ferrari this old with these miles puts me off somewhat, while a newer 911 with similar miles does not?
Discuss.
Thanks!

I work for myself from home so its a car purely for enjoyment and not for commute or for driving kids around...
Running costs and roof/no-roof not really an issue. Like convertibles but I also think cars like the 911 look a lot better as a hard top!!

Well if it was my £50k, I'd spend it on...This: http://www.silverarrows.co.uk/Car5/car.htm
And use the change on something like this: http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/classifieds/594501.ht...

That's gorgeous. Have images of driving to Nice in something like that. However, one car and my own money, I think I'd go for a 355 GTB and be a very happy bunny indeed (until the first service was due).

Guess it depends on what you want and why you want it really.I am currently considering the likes of a 2005/6 997S or maybe an older 2000 Ferrari 360...

Is this a long term prospect or just a flighting fancy?
How many people does it need to seat and what will it be used for?
Will running costs be a concern?

I guess I might struggle here, but armed with £50k I personally wouldn't want anythng usual For speed and 2 seater:
Corvette C6 z06 (with maybe a few mods too). 505bhp 198mph top speed and 0-100mph 7.x seconds.
For a 2+2 fast machine:
2003/4 Mustang Cobra (aka The Terminator). 4.6 Supercharged V8 (DOHC). Add on a Kenne Bell twin screw blower and a few mods and pocket the rest. Est 600bhp
Big, different and seats 6:
Dodge Ram 5.9 Cummins CRD stock 345bhp and 610lb ft. Easily tunable to over 500bhp and 800lb ft
Something totally different:
BAD Daytona http://www.badaytona.com/
Something very different:
Vanwall http://vanwallcars.com/html/historic_motorsport_in...
I could have four awesome cars instead of one awesome car for £50,000, to suit every situation.
2001 Aston Martin DB7 Vantage for £27,000 with upgraded GT suspension for fun and style. I don't like Aston DB7s in convertible (Volante) form (yes they are only this much to buy now, come down loads in the last 12 months)
£10,000 on a used Alfa 159, 2006 plate probably. For shopping/practicality in the most beautiful saloon currently in production.
£5000 on a older Land Rover Defender for when I feel the need to get a bit dirty.
£7000 on an Old 80's/90's Merc SL for classic top down motoring or alternatively a mid 90's M3 convertible.

Ps. to OP: the 997 definately, classic in making that ticks all boxes. Real classics are nice enough but after they wont start when you want them to, the novelty quickly wears of. Although everyone should have at least one old beauty in their garage.
