what wrong,,1800 CVH
Discussion
I bought an 1800cvh to replace my old engine around 18 months ago from the breakers, since then ive done over 95,000 miles on this engine(my sierra's a taxi),it now smokes first thing until i let the engine idle to ideal temp, when i put my foot down i leave a burst of cloud in the road, Whats wrong with the bloody thing!!,shall i take it back to the breakers and ask for my money back.
Seriously if anyones got a 1800 cvh in an mot failure i will only be to pleased to take it of your hands.

Agreed, the CVH is one of those engines that you can smell coming. Once worn, forever smoky.
Had to strip and rebuild one at college when I did my C&G; never forget it, nothing was within tolerance (with a micrometer) but it still ran, which perhaps says something for it!
Full of carbonised oil sludge as well. Yuk.
Sell it quick and buy a Peugeot diesel....

One thing about fumey cars......you don't get Tailgaters, but i hate reversing.
Shame the cvh has got a bad rep,cos if you try your hardest to look after them they serve you well(dont let them get hot and change oil&filter religiously),unlike the Pinto i used to run,i could totaly disrespect the pinto and it would come back for more, surely the best engine Ford ever made in terms of performance with reliability...there's a pinto sitting in a battered sierra at the local breakers, ide love to put it in my sierra but ive been told i would have to change some of the loom
