Hey ya I was charged for gross misconduct in June 07. An so far no1 will employ me. Life is getting desprate now, I dont have any great qualifacations but I have quite a wide range of skill and common sense.
1999 I passed all my GCSE`s, then I stayed on at school and studyed Business Studies, I pass with a merit. Then I work 20 months as a plumbers mate. After this time he decided it was too expensive for him to take me on as an imprentish.
When I was 16 I got a Saturday job in a friends bakery (Maison Du Pain) I continued this Saturday job until I went full time after the plumbing job came to an end.
I worked my way up at the bakery from a Saturday boy to a "Panettone" expert/head baker. This was a single company and there was no room for movement, so I left for better pastirseds.
A few weeks passed an I landed a job at Tube Lines at their Acton depot (DSM), I worked my way up to a fleet managers place, this was fantastic but it came to an end in May 25 2007.
Since then Ive worked at Costco on checkout and tyre bay (but a member took offence to a "new boy" working on his Merc.
Now I do the odd garden job.

An now Im running out of time. Please help if you think of anything.
Thank you
Richard

Tried the employment agencies? Maybe driver-hire, manpower or similar. If you're not fussy about what you do then they are always looking for bodies.

BTW, what did you do????

Why the gross misconduct? TWOC?

Why didn't you go in your own motor?

Gross misconduct is a bit much for that. That's equivalent to someone taking a work PC home over the weekend but bringing it back the next Monday. Maybe a verbal warning but hardly gross misconduct. frown

I can't see what that's Gross Misconduct either. Slap on the wrist time at worst unless of course you were in excess of the posted speed limit! And of course no one here has ever done thatwhistle

If it's a company van, it may only be insured for business use so yes, it would be gross misconduct.

Though it would be difficult for example to drive a PC into the back of a porsche on a motorway - which is what could have happened here. I'd say its down to the company's insurance, and also maybe it wasnt the first incident....?

I sympathise. I got a discliplinary Final Written Warning recently. This will hang over me for 12 months. Doesn't a Gross Misconduct wear off? Sounds like a silly mistake only. I would explain what happened in an interview. I doubt you will do it again! How about van driving? Maybe take a HGV or PSV test.
