Had a bit of a play at the weekend and replaced original wheel (on an S2 111s) with a snap-off adaptor and an aftermarket Sparco wheel, looks cool, feels cool and better security to boot. Have got other pics of the install if anyone wants to know anything, followed the instructions on the Techwiki on SELOC which worked fairly well.

Looks great.

On the first image is that a phone mic I can see towards the right side of the picture? What is the quality like?

No real problems getting the old one off (except for electricuting self with horn connector), its a slightly complicated process but anyone with half a practical side (which is all I've got) can manage it with the right tools.

Yes that is a phone mic, its connected through the stereo (Alpine aftermarket job) and bluetooth, I haven't used it much but it works pretty well.

Looks really good. Can I ask how far towards you the new wheel is now - tall people need to know these things smile

ALso, is there any play in the wheel compared to the old fixed wheel? I have heard this can be an issue but snap-on do seem the best of the bunch.

Wheel is the same reach as previous one, haven't measured what it was. The normal kit comes with a 20mm spacer in it which I've fitted, you can have a 40mm one (which will bring it closer) but presumably you could get a thinner one made if you wanted it further away.

No play that I've noticed, I'll give it a yank later and confirm.

Looks superb.

How does it feel when driving compared to the original

Is it rude to ask how much it cost? smile

Feels really nice, a little softer and larger than the OEM wheel but more grippy and feels more 'special'. Flat bottom feels a bit funny but I'm sure thats a 'newness' thing, Sparco do exactly the same ring in a round version. All stuff is from Eliseparts, who were excellent, the wheel itself was about £120 I think, and the snap-off adaptor was more, £200+ I think but you could check their website. For me this is worth it as I park it with the roof off alot and it sometimes gets left at airports etc so a bit of extra security has got to be a good thing. I also had to pay extra for the horn push bit which was £40 (its more than just the plastic roundel, its a actually what the wheel clamps to.

Reverie side pods and mesh grilles on the way.....

I'll be interested to know if you do get used to the flat bottomed wheel. I really like the look but the only time I drove a car with one I didn't really get on with it.

Looks like the same size as the standard wheel? Btw, I am myself looking for something smaller (280 mm I'm guessing and round) so if anyone is selling...

I've also been toying with the idea of a smaller wheel.

Does anyone have an opinion on the different sizes? Do they hide the stack? Does it weight up the steering too much?
