Getting a ps3, is it worth the bother..

if I already have a 360. They share alot of games, only a few exclusives each console, more so for the ps3 recently.
I do fancy a ps3 as its a nicer design and spec is better.Xbl has pissed me off no end with its charges for everything and the fact i can add a credit card in 1 min on the console, but have to ring a call center and 30 days to remove it.
Opinions from owners of both welcome.

I've got both (PS3 only very recently) - hopefully the fanboys wont be too upset
The PS3 is much quieter and seems more polished (especially the settings/menu screen). The games are virtually identical, graphically. Xbox live seems to be much more active and there are more PHers on it. PS3 has bluray, which seems to have won the HD 'war' (and disc prices seem to be coming down *slightly*.
In summary - get both!

I'm a tight-fisted yorkshireman too - and for me it was always going to be the PS3. Purely as it's the better option long-term...
As has been stated already, it's simply a more polished experience, the blu-ray is fantastic, the gaming great, and the 'experience' as a whole is more rewarding. I can't imagine having to pay to go online, simply not cricket
Also, if you have other Sony bits (PSP, Camera, Phone etc) you'll appreciate the thinking that has gone into making these accessories interact seamlessly.

Design: nothing in it the PS3 looks gorgeous and sleek
Controller: Shape wise the 360 is better but the battery life and built in play and charge are brilliant on the PS3
Games: to be fair my xbox passed away a while ago and i couldn't be bothered sending it off, so i dont know whats come out for 360 lately, however with games like uncharted, motorstorm, haze, killzone exclusive that takes some beating and Halo is the 360's crown jewel that isnt very good IMO.
Online: 360 is very very good, however the PS3 is catching up very quickly and by the end of the year it will be impossible to seperate the two
Usability: PS3 for reasons like, sync up your card and getting stuff off the store is childs play, and the stuff on the store is better.
IF you have a HDTV then watching Blu-ray movies is much better then anything the 360 can do, and upscaling normal DVD's it does so much better.
Obviously for me it would be a PS3 and considering all my mates have 360's and im lonely on the PS3 is testament to how much more i enjoy the PS3

Still addicted to Halo 3 and Forza 2 - the latter which seems to have an online system that works, and they had the decency to release the completed game, not some half finished attempt to remind people the series still existed.
..and I've got a pc to plug my cameras and phone into.
I've got both.
PS3 is great for Blu Ray, and dualshock3 really helps, but the X360 is more fun somehow and has a better controller.
PS3 menu system seems a bit more polished compared to the 360 blades, but the online play is crap/ nonexistent and forget downloads - they're sparse and the download site is badly presented and difficult to navigate.

IMO and many others, Motorstorm and Haze are not very good. Uncharted was very easy and short, while Killzone will not be out until next year.PS3 has absolutely nothing that comes close to Bioshock, Mass Effect, Gears of War, Forza 2, Halo 3 (OK, depends on your opinion) plus a solid collection of others such as PGR3/4.
There is certainly nothing in existence that would suggest a significantly better console for either of them in terms of game graphics

lol Mainly because they forgot to put rumble into the controller so it does less..I use rechargable AA's, same asa lot of stuff around the house, 2 second swap with some in the charger and off I go again. And it nicely pauses the game when the battery goes etc. The 360 handles this better than the PS3 did anyway.
Forza 3 will be out before GT5.
And possibly the 720 too !
I expect a new MS console mid 2010 to early 2011. I doubt sony are planning one untill 2012 on.Question is are there enough worthy exclusives on the PS3, considering a lot of the cross platform games are poorer?

My 360 lives upstairs in the office-gamesroom but I've just ordered a nice new 42" Panasonic plasma TV for the living room and have been idly considering a PS3, mainly for the Bluray player but also as a second console (not that I get much gaming time thesedays, with a 10 week old daughter!).
'Er Indoors would find it much easier to greenlight the £300-ish expense if I could persuade her that the PS3 could effectively replace the FUBAR-ed laptop for downstairs surfing and photo viewing.
I'm assuming you need to plug a keyboard in to make browsing tolerable on the PS3? I know text input on the 360 via the controller is a complete PITA....

Browsing on the PS3 is rubbish.
The dualshock3 controllers with rumble are OK, but not a patch on the X360. You have to import them as well.
GRID is ace, I bought it on PS3 mostly to have a game to play on it, but it's not an exclusive title. X360 version would be good for online play - there's no split screen racing.
