I picked car up today. drove it. jush back from driving 30 miles getting used to car

its 1992 Red K reg mini sprite 1.3. LOveley Car my face was like this all day. --->

Its drive great, bring lots of smile on my face

Now i got couple of question.

Can i get tachometer with fuel/temperture level to be fitted in pod thingy dashboard? if so what is the wiring and where can i get the gauges?

THe brakes need to be improved. What can be done to standard brake. I think it 8" brake disc. not too sure it running 12" wheel.

Would running a braided hoses make any difference to Stopping power performace, and would it fail the mot ?

Hehe expect to hear some mini related question from me

What clocks does it have at the moment, just the fuel and the temp guage? If so there is a 3 clock with rev counter that should be fairly easy to get from a scrapyard - mileage will of course be out though!

As for the brakes there are a myriad of aftermarket options EBC Green Stuff pads and Pagid discs come highly recommended. Any of the uprated brake parts will fit under the 12's.

Braided hoses wont fail the MOT but the advantage of them is that they dont 'bubble' meaning that braking performance is consistent.

Congrats!

Hope you enjoy your new toy, was the car left for a while without driving before you got it? Maybe the discs have got a bit rusty? Not to worry though mini bits are nice and cheap, as Plotloss said green stuff pads are an easy upgrade.

The 3 clock dashes can be bought second hand from scrap yards and mini shows or you could get one of the pod type rev counters that will mount anywhere, wiring is not to hard just need a live, earth and feed from the coil.

You can fit the 3 dial dash into your car no problem, the wiring is already there for the tach. Unless you are going to fit a full dashboard you need the mounting bracket and cowling as well as the clocks themselves. Check out the mini magazines, mini-specific breakers or mini shows for sources secondhand. You can easily remove your existing speedo(two screws) and transfer it to the new set-up retaining the cars recorded mileage. A mate of mine has just done all this to a '92 British Open Classic.

Brakes should be fine on the 8.4 inch discs, try some decent pads first. I'd upgrade to braided hoses if the standard ones look ropey or they fail an MoT, but might be worth changing the brake fluid. What are your symptoms ?? Pulls sideways ?? Long pedal ?? Rears locking up ?? Judder under braking ?? Or just not as good as you think they should be ??

Welcome!

Mega Minis of Bromsgrove is usually good for gauges. He advertises in the Mini mags most months. If you want something different, I have a set of magnolia CAI dials (tach, temp, oil press, oil temp, volts) that I had on the old Mini that I could be persuaded to part with for a lot less than I paid for them. You'd need to get a matching speedo which you can buy online from www.greengauges.com. I also have a magnolia Smiths centre speedo (the old big round kind) with only 12 miles on it. The speedo doesn't work properly, but this can be fixed by Speedy Cables.

Pics of all of it at www.minispecial.com/restoration/photos.asp

Let me know if you're interested! And sorry to Ted for advertising!

LOL, Mini brakes arn't *quite* in that league mate !! Vibration on braking could be any number of things, disc run-out, worn pads, rear drums out of round..... I would start simple with the pads, check the discs aren't too worn, no big lip at the edge, deep grooves or cracks. If yes then replace the discs too.
