Is this a real Sports Racer?

After a red Sports Racer, not been any for sale for a while now.. apart from this one on Auto Trader - thought a couple of things look odd though, its a 2005 car (OK Dec 2005), thought all SR's were 2006 cars? Also it does not have white mirrors....

So is it a real SR? Anyone know it?

Well if it's not a real one someone's gone to a lot of trouble to make it look like one. Can;t explain the mirrors but everything else looks and sounds okay.

I'd say there's nothing there to make it not genuine

They are all MY06, but mine could have also been a 55 plate had I not held off collection for three weeks until 1st March to rolled around

Some people didn't like the white mirrors and coded them. The SR package works well for me and somehow looks odd without the 'ears' now

All else looks as it should be


If it's genuine, it'll have a build plate / limited edition number on the inner door sill next to the driver's seat

I agree it looks genuine to me, for example the red stitching on the seats is not a common thing to have.

Yes and it will have a build plate and number next to the driver seat on the lower sill.

As for it being on a 55 plate, i saw one first in Jan 06 in the dealer ship ready for delivery, and as for the red wing mirrors i remember alot of owners saying it was the only feature they disliked and where considering having them painted red.

mine is a 55 plate. Phone Lotus technical with the chassis and reg number, they will tell you.
Also, it should have a plate with th build number on it saying whta number out of 100 it was. They made 100 red and 99 blue.

Contact Dick Lovett Lotus in Swindon. The Number plate is WX 55 XJS. WX is generally the Swindon area and this plate was offered to me when I bought my SR. My plate differs only by the last letter.

I bought my Exige in Novem 05 and Williams in Bristol had a red sport racer in that month so I would say it's original.
