One attempt for me but I didn't do it til I was 28 years old.
Is there a point where you have to just admit that you aren't competent enough to be allowed on the road? At least without restrictions. Maybe if you take more than five attempts, then when you finally pass you should have a flashing beacon on your roof and drive a hi-vis car with big foam bumpers all around it

rather embarrassingly, 4. A number made all the more difficult to swallow by the fact that out of my school year I was one of only two that i was aware of not to crash before we graduated.
The first 3 were all with trainee examiners. The 4th was with the chief examiner. Not that the first 3 were incompetent or anything

Only took me one go, following seven 'proper' driving lessons to iron out any bad habits my Dad's teachings had given me.
Thirteen minors though
Also, I noticed the major that the instructor missed about five minutes in, so thought I had failed the whole way round. Might have had less minors if I'd still been trying as hard!

Also passed my PPL, CPL, IR and all groundschool tests 1st time.
Seriously, you think your Penis is big....
Actually mine is probably normal sized. But I do wear an awfully big watch by way of compensation.

Didn't have majors/minors in my day, but I failed my first due to not being fully in the temporary lane to turn right at a junction and not exaggerating my mirror use (I have it positioned just right to only need my eyes to move rather than my entire head). Right tossbag he was. That was after 10 lessons I think.
I didn't take any lessons afterwards but just booked the next test and passed fine. Although I thought I'd failed due to mucking up the reversing around a corner but because I started again from scratch rather than hash it up further, the guy was fine with it. Ironically, thinking I'd knackered it meant I was much more relaxed for the rest of the test, which probably contributed to passing.

2 for me. missed an unmarked crossroads due to a hgv obscurring it. On the way home was sat still at the lights when some plonker plowed into the back of the instructor's metro with a rangerover. made my day that did! 3 minors 2nd time round.
my sister started learning 2 years before me [11yrs ago] and she still hasn't passed. she bought a car on her 17th and managed to crash it on the first day [dad was upstairs putting his shoes on, she was too eager and reversed up the drive, over next doors lawn, 50yrds up the road and into a parked car

she failed 3 tests in a year, including one for leaving the handbrake on and consequently handbrake turning into the test centre! she is currently learning to drive in her hubby's L200 so if you see one with L plates in the leeds area, best give it a wide birth yeah?
