Tickover stuck at 1,700 revs - help needed.

Sounds like the additional air device is stuck open. If you squeeze the hose does the idle drop?

Where is the hose?
The old induction rubber dome thing above the flapper had a piece of hose grafted in but it was capped off. I changed it (and the flexi hose) as they were split and the new dome doesn't have this extra hose piece.
Runs crap with either option.

The AAD is mounted on the front of the plenum and looks like this:



Will have Hoses in/out about 20mm diameter.
AAD should be closed when hot and no extra air is passed to engine.

Had a very similar problem with my eurobox, caused by a badly fitted inlet mainifold gasket allowing air direct to engine. Engine wouldnt stall when air bypass to throttle body closed. New gasket and all was well. Yours certainly seems like an air inlet leak
