Noble info, considering purchase.

Hi guys,

There is a Noble for sale up the road from me and im considering it.

I keep trying to find specs of them, but they all seem to differ, along with "essential factory upgrades"

Its an M12, at 21k.

What are the power figures and performance times, i have been quoted anywhere from 300 to 350+?

LSD gear box?

Mechanical problems?

Part availability?

What are these Essential factory upgrades that are mentioned in adverts quite a bit?

Which model M12, GTO, GTO-3, GTO-3R

That has a big impact on the upgrades, power etc.
Have a look at www.gto3.com will answer a few of your questions.

It will be a GTO, its a 2001, so i assume its a GTO.

From what i have read, it has a standard 310bhp, however there was a factory upgrade to give 340bhp, this was only from extra boost?

So no additional ECU work?

Is the standard 5 speed on the GTO an LSD? I keep hearing about people upgrading to the 6 speed LSD box.

General reliability?

I went/been through a lot with my GTO, so here is some quick tips.

Make sure it has had the ECU upgrade to either after market or MBE.

I know some people still have the std diff (my car was 4yrs old with std diff and I broke it in 2 months) but I would make sure it has the LSD.

They are the main 2 but fan upgrade is another although not expensive to have done.

Track day sump would be nice as its about 1k to get one added.

I'm not sure but I think there was a rad upgrade at soem point but would be supprised if this hasn't alreay been done.

Sounds like one I considered, if it is, it has the upgraded ECU and thus the guy was told it would produce the same power as the later 3L cars.... I doubt it however I have been told by other GTO3 owners that there is almost no difference in performance between 2.5 and 3L anyhow.

On the 2.5 its important to make sure the ECU is the later on as the orginial units fail.

The std car does not have an LSD so there is a very high chance yours wont have it.... do wonder how much it is to have one fitted as mine doesn't have either and I keep being told it will break.

I have only just got my car, but I ended up buying the absolute best condition one with the lowest mileage in the price range I had which was just over 20k.

My 2.5 doesn't have the LSD. It's covered 55,000 miles. Still going strong.

As I said earlier. some people still have the std diff, But I'm sure more have broken than are still around. As far as I'm concerned its a gamble and a bloody expensive one.
