First Motor Sports shots (Picture heavy)
Discussion
Its been something that i have been wanting to have a go at for ages. So for once i remembered my camera or the weather was not that appalling etc ...
Please let me know if the pics below don't show up as i have some set to private in Flickr!
14th June 2008 - Dunlop Weekend at Croft.
This was my first outing at a Motor Sport event with the cam. A mate of mine Andy Spencer races Westfield's (current champion) asked me to take some pictures. Not having ever taken a picture of any form of motor sport i had a steep learning curve. I think i started at something like 160 - 200 on the shutter speed.

6th July 2008 - 750 motor club at Cadwell Park
This is from my favorite track in the country. It was a very challenging day from a drivers prospective and from me taking pictures as the weather conditions were changing by the second. The classes out were Hot hatches, MGB's, RGB's, Bike engine sports, Classics.
These pictures went a little better. I managed to get down to 60 shutter speed but was getting better results from 80

They were all taken on a Nikon D40 shot on Nikon a 55-200 AF-S VR
All shots taken in RAW then workflow done in lightroom
Cheers for all the comments! I have a few more outings planned to events over the summer with another mate who races 944's in the Porsche Cup. So will keep these updated!

As has been said, Andy, good effort for a first go. Got them nice and sharp plus I like the last 2 shots from Cadwell illustrating the gradient there. Good stuff.
From your day at Croft, did you happen to get any shots of the white and black Westfield, no.41, as he's a mate of mine and also a PHer (sylva41)?
TIA.

OK I've put a few of mine from Cadwell here
I obviously need a heap more practice at panning and getting things sharp!
Edited to add: not spending half the day helping to put the rear end of that Fury back together would have given me more playtime... and then I might not have forgotten to pick up my spare CF card and battery from my car! [Photographers Book of Excuses Pt 165 Section III Para 2
