That top drawing is what im trying to follow but the colours dont match and it calls forred black and green to be connected together,which seems strange also what do the dashes mean on each side of the line

The simple way of linking to the past thread is to open it in another window then highlight everything in the address bar at the top (will start "http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing......"), right click the highlighted text and select "copy" then place your cursor where you want the link and press "ctrl" and "V" together and it will paste the link into your text.

Sorry if I've misunderstood your problem and am teaching granny to suck eggs but I'd rather do that and perhaps help than ignore and leave someone struggling

Ok Ken here goes. When removing my gearbox i managed to rip the wires out of the speedo sensor plastic connector. This is a sealed item so ihad to cut the other half of the connector. Im now left with 3 wires from the speedo sensor which are brown, black, and yellow and from the other side of the now removed connector 3 wires which are brown black and grey. Ive looked at various wiring diagrams for the S series and i could not find one showing a grey wire. Rechecked all the wiring diagrams and the GREY wire was confusing me. Upon close inspection of this wire it turns out to be double insulated i.e its like your tv co-axial cable. It has a inner copper core then a layer of insulation and then more copper strands and finally the grey insulation. I had twisted both these copper cores together so i now seperated them and tried wiring them individually. The 1st one i tried was the outer copper strands, no speedo. 2nd the inner copper core .S apeedo working a treat. Still dont fully understand the purpose of the outer copper wires is it some kind of protection from other electrical fields for the pulse signal to the speedo? Any way guys thats it i apologise for the length of this thread but Ken forced me into it.

Right photo time,warning not for the squeemish



that white box contains a small amount of PCB.the rest of the wiring is as per the sketch above,but i can not get it to match the tvr drawing

Are you talking about the 290S drawing?
I suspect the wiring will be different due to the different sender unit.
Maybe they made the speedo work with that box - it converts the V8 signals to work with a V6 speedo?
Total guess.

Edited to say why the fiddling with the wiring?
Is the speedo dead like everyone elses?

When i removed the immobiliser i must have disconnected the wiring for the speedo hence it doesnt work

Check my old ratty spate spedo which has the grey cable cut. Inside the outer covering there is a screened layer (similar to coax) inside which are two normal cables, one red and one black
