Somewhere in the depths of PH there is a thread showing some nice metal alternatives to the normal plastic ones. Does anyone know what im talking about and where i can get such things. I have done a search but nothing has come up. My passenger side switch has given up the ghost and I feel like some nice shiny alternatives!

Have a look on the RS Components or CPC sites. They sell switches and other electrical components among others.

The switches used on the doors are slightly different from the norm, in that they obviously dont earth to where they are mounted......

Also Maplin and Rapid Electronics might be worth a look.

Is it this one you are thinking about ?

I know I started a tread about this in april or may 2007 but I can´t find it either. The tread had the exact part no and so on for the door switch and some more things I have changed in interior. It is mostly some more aluminium parts instead of the plastic parts that is original.

At first i tried to connect the LED in the switch direct to the harness since the harness has a resistor with the correct spec for the switch. I had to put in another resistor in series with the existing one since the LED:s in the new switches are much brigther than the original ones.

If you want to see more pics of the differnt parts I did for the interior please give me a mail

Thanks Peppe, but its the switch on the door mirror im looking to change not the interior.

As someone mentioned there may be a problem earthing after market switches. I found trhe OME ones and they are about 12 quid which is quite a lot.

Olly changed the switch in the mirror for a vandal resistant one if memory serves correctly, I'll shoot him a mail.

You called ? ears

I changed mine last sumemr as the passenger one had packed up.

These are the ones i used. They are bigger than the old ones, so you do need to make the hole in the plastic mirror housing bigger, and you then need to grind some of the metal mirror housing to get them to fit, but I think they look great ! smile
