Broken Speedo on 93 Chim
Discussion
All,
Any advice on the possible cause of a non functioning speedo? 93 Chim, was working yesterday (the day i picked the car up) but has given up the ghost (and, oh so early in ownership!)
Needle doesnt move at all, but ironically, when the immobiliser cuts in (ie the engine turns but doesnt fire) the needle jumps around like mad. Then, when running, not a sausage!!
Its my first TVR, the dealer i bought it from has been nothing but helpful, but is a fair distance geographically, so a pain to return to. I would rather sort it myself, and just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience????
Day 1 gremlins eh?
Also, could anyone advise of a reasonably priced Alarm/Immobiliser, as the one on it seems to have something of a mind of its own!!! Unless its just user error, which is always possible!
Oh, and a good stereo (at the cheaper end of the market) as it is currently fitted with a cassette deck-retro but *rap!!!
All advice greatly appreciated.

Anything Pioneer is good news IMO - and as the cassette deck is probably still the OE-fitted Pioneer, swapping it for a shiny new Pioneer will be easy as cake. Thats reassuring, as the visit to the motorist centre in mk revealed only 2 pieces of information.
1. I dont know if we can fit one, come back at the weekend when there are more staff.
2. This one should be £90, but you can have it for £50 cash.
Not the kind of outfit to be wielding screwdrivers anywhere near the dash of my new pride and joy
