Dealer or Private

Looks like I,m now in a position to go out and find a car question is where to start. I'm looking to spend upto 30k a bit less if I can get away with it!.
Should I go to a dealer pay a premium but get the re-assurance of a warranty,problem is my nearest dealer is some distance away so returning the car with any problem would be a performance in itself.Or should I buy private and perhaps take out an after market warranty,or thirdly not bother with a warranty.
If there are any cars out there that would come reccomended by you peeps again I would appreciate any guidance.

You Can buy private and still get a dealer warranty, as one of the Noble dealers will sell you the same warranty you would get if you bought from them. (2 years cost approx £850)
I would buy on condition and not be scared off by non Noble service history.
30K should get you a 3R, just( if they are keen to sell).
Any less than that I would say you are looking at a 3.

I'm in a similar position. If you buy the car from a dealer you'll get after sales service which should sort out any minor niggles etc. But it looks like you'll pay at least an extra £2k for it but it will include a years warranty. I'm looking at the M400 in the tvr centre, a 3R at kerridges and also a couple of privates. I'm not sure what to do, can anyone help me make my mind up, they are all nice cars.

Hi there, Regretably am thinking of selling my Noble as am starting a new job and just don't use her. Sits in my garage alday. Its the hardest decision as i don't think i will find a better car. Its a blue Gto-3. Has a private Gto-3 number plate.
Bought the car on 7k from a regular on here(jim Noble who ordered it from new) and have done just 5k since i owned her(12k). Serviced by Vegantuned and Crazy Horse racing . Its due a service soon so i will get that sorted. Trackered and alarm etc.

Will sort some pics out if any interested. Looking for 28k as its a great car.

The dealer will be putting on a lot of money.... I have just bought mine and the dealers were looking for around 7-10k more than i ended up paying.

Shop around for the exact car you want as there are some real good ones for sale at the moment for very keen prices.

I think to be honest on a Noble the trade will be putting 10-15% max with the present climate. Still a couple or three grand I know so will give a lot of thought to it before opening my wallet.

By the way how did the Ultima compare cost wise to the Noble

When I was looking for both my Nobles, I looked at loads and did a lot of homework on the ones that might interest me. Some were described as "full service history" that blatantly weren't,others had been serviced at half a dozen different places or the flavour of the month indi.One was described by a reputable indi as "no obvious sign of trackwork" which I then found with a bit of investigation was a well known car that had been tracked to death. Others described as immaculate were laughable, but of course all this can apply to any car search. Eventually in both instances for me, through being patient,I knew I'd found the right car. Same rules apply as to any other specialist car, take your time,don't jump in, do a lot of homework,go with your head not your heart and stick out for what you want.........and in the meanwhile enjoy the hunt knowing eventually you'll be grinning from ear to ear!

Thats what you'd think but as I say the car I got was 7k less than the exact same car on Mole valley forcourt and I saw worse condition ones with twice the mileage for 10k more.

In the end I bought on condition and mileage.

As for servicing, I did the Ultima myself so it never really cost me anything... the next owner who put it into a garage to have it done (which ended up being me towards the end of his ownership lol) was paying a fortune to service it as Ultimas do need to be fettled due to the agricultural SBC.

I intend to get my Noble serviced at a dealer but then do any work that needs doing myself as I know my way around a car like this (its very similar to an Ultima really)...... I may even source a new 6 speeder and change the gearing and then fit that. But I do need to be bareful about fettling as this is my everyday car and will be putting a lot of miles on it.

As for purchase cost, My Ultima is actually for sale now (by the 3rd owner) and is a year older than my Noble with more miles on it... and its up for significantly more money.

I have to say I do think the Noble is a complete bargain.
