Been trying to buy an Elise for about 4-6 weeks now and having no joy, and I thought it was a buyers market!

Im basically looking for a 111S in Black, Black Interior under 25,000 Miles, 2003 onwars for under £19K must be with a dealer as I have a part exchange, will I ever find one? am I being too fussy?

Have considered other colours but IMHO they look so much better in black!

I would have thought there would be plenty to choose from....do you mean there is not a single one in the UK dealer network, or just local to yourself? ...Im sure if a dealer can get one from elsewhere in the network if there is one

not one for sale in the whole country from what I can see, doesnt have to be with an official dealer either, just a dealer who will take part ex!

So they come along often or are black 111S rare? ill travel anyway for the right car!

Good things come to he who waits, it took me about two months of waiting so hang on in there. Good choice though so it will be worth it, especially if youve 19k to play with - you should be able to pick one up for about 15/16k with that spec.

Is is best to just surf AT and here on a daily basis, or contact a dealer and ask him to search?
Im based in Nottingham so dont have a dealer to just pop into

I looked on here, SELOC and autotrader everyday for a few months. In the end found mine at a dealer, but, with hindsight, could have got a better deal privately.

Black ones are pretty rare. It took months for me to find a black S1 sport 160. Have you considered an exige? They are pretty common in black? Or perhaps your budget would stretch to a 111r?

I think it's just a question of the Elises being a rare car and you being extremely picky about what you want. Black was never a particularly popular colour.

It can be as much of a buyer's market as you want, but if the car you're looking for doesn't exist, you can't buy it.

Westover have a black 111R with the best numberplate I have ever seen. I would strech the budget if I were you. Sweet car.

Wouldn't be suprised if the plate was worth a grand or two to someone.

What you trading in ? I'd avoid dealers and go private as you get a lot more for your money though dealers do monoplolise low mileage examples......

Be careful!!!!

Dealer will smell your frustration from a mile away!

Suddenly sticker price WILL BE the price (i.e. no deal to be done)

A quick Autotrader search brings up a 2006 '56' Elise 'S' (134 Toyota) in Black, 12,935 miles at £19,490 with C/locking and E/Windows. Worth a try? It's with Peninsula Lotus.

Cheers guys, I would probabnly go for a Dark Grey one at a push! That private sale one is perfect but I then have the hassle of trying to sell mine! The one with read leather interior seems a tad expensive to me given the mileage and they wont budge on price.

Guess its just look at the classifieds twice a day!

Pretty much, yeah. Took me 6 months to find what I wanted and it was still my second choice of colour.
