What a grin i have had on my face today!!!
Left Exeter yesterday at 4ish, got to Southampton about 6.30.
Found the house and there it was, looking classy on the drive parked next to his E46 M3 cab
I had all the things to look out for in my head and got busy straight away.. a couple things put me off to start with like the drivers door sticks out a little at the bottom when it's shut
, and the rear window has a hole in it from where it has snagged on the rear arms that fold the hood down. But the body work was great, the outriggers had been done, the chassis had been treated etc.. then we went out for a spin.. to be honest i was a bit nervous about driving the beast haven just come from a normal ford focus! but after i stalled it pulling away
then it all fell into place, the S is just lovely to drive, it really feels special, it has a 'propper' car feel to it, i really felt involed with the car, and the noise at certain revs is awesome!!
So that helped my decision. I still felt like i should have viewed a couple more so that i knew this was the right one, but it was a butey! SO i offered him what i thought it was worth and he didn't haggle, just sale agreed!
He then threw in some oil, haynes manual, the S bible thingy, and an indoor car cover.
The drive home was great, the S makes you feels excited, I love how low down you sit, and even a Golf going passed looks huge! I stopped off to get some fuel and people have a sneaky peek at the Tiv which is nice. The i went into pay and a security bloke asked me how long i had owned it, i said "ten minutes!" he is looking for a Tuscan s. The on the A35 coming back home, i was playing with the stereo and i heard a rubble go by, i looked up and it was a Tuscan, he was waving so i flashed him, that felt cool, for so long i have seen TVR's on the road and quickly wound down my window & mute the strereo to hear the beast go by, and now I'm driving one, getting acknowledged by a Tuscan!! This Car is pure class. So far i am still like a kid on Christmas day, i was getting goose pimples at work today just thinking about the old girl
It's just how i hoped it be, a true British sports car, small, light, great looking inside & out, fast with an AMAZING sound track...
...i now know what the 'S' stands for... 'SMUG'

Curiously, both the doors on mine are a little proud at the bottom rear corner, the driver's side especially. They fit well at the other three corners which suggests that they are not quite the right shape for the door aperture, rather than badly adjusted. Perhaps it's an S3 'feature'! Anyway, if that's the worst problem you've got, I shouldn't worry!

How nice. I'm picking up mine tomorrow!!! I'm so excited. Agreed to sell the TR7 today with the Classics monthly, the editor from that mag has bought it in order to do it up and to feature it. You're story brought a smile to my face because I was a little unsure whether to keep the car I had or to convert to the TVR. I have chosen the TVR over the Triumph! Thanks for sharing your experience.
