OK, I need your help.

I am hosting a party on Saturday for 100 people. The foods all sorted (thursday and friday cooking) but I need some wine. Here's the food list

grilled lime/corriander/saffron chicken wings
chicken meatballs with saffron and corriander
lentils with roasted veggies
millet cakes
mung beans with caramelised onions
salt seared soya beans
cous cous
homous
home made pizzas and fresh breads and flat breads
yoghurt and cucumber
yohgurt and spinnach and sweet garlic
dolmades
salads

and more besides so you get the idea hopefully of the flavours..

So I need some ideas for wine. Reds and whites and some idea of VOLUME. It starts at 3pm and is a civilised affair (supposedly!) and will go on till the early hours of the morning (Probably). Can you please make some suggestions of reasonable wines that would go well with the above list; ideally from big supermarkets - time is at a premium this week, so I need to make the purchasing process short and snappy.

Cheers

whats your budget?

for white, Radcliffes Sancerre from Wine Rack (its their Own Label) is very nice and, imho, would go well with the fresh tastes going on there. But then sancerre is my white of choice so I would say that smile

tbh I would be tempted to go all-Loire, with a nice light loire red that wont overpower...Chinon, Bourgueil, or Haut-Poitou served a little cold would be nice.

you are looking at a fair bit of wine for 100 people all night... 25 bottles of each, imho? depends how many grannies/kids and beer drinkers you have in the crowd.

tbh i would look at booze cruising, you will make the savings back on 60 bottles.

/edit...bit short notice to recommend France i guess sorry lol.

I have to admit that I would like something a little heavier on the red front with the middle eastern/med flavors present in the food. Perhaps a nice Spanish rioja or Sicilian

If you are looking to do a theme thing then try the cheaper second wine from Musar (lebanese), Hochar I think it is called

Majestic had some offers on Chilean recently. I can thoroughly recommend the Chilean Montes Cab / Carmenere blend. About £6 / bottle but would definitely be an impressive wine to serve. Can't recommend any whites besides some generic Voigner - it tends to appeal to both Chardonnay lovers and haters.
