Newbie question - Lights on spyder.
Discussion
Ok, you may all laugh, but i haven't worked out how the hell to turn the full beam on? Anyone have any suggestions?
Also - not sure if it's just my car, but i can't find a reversing light anywhere? Is it meant to have one?
Thanks
Craig.
ps, here's some pics of the car on route and in Le Mans :-) http://www.tripkings.co.uk/ultima/

Hi Craig,
Unlikely that the car was fitted with a reverse lamp - my Factory built Spyder has a foot operated switch adjacent to the clutch pedal for full/dip beam - but it could well be different on yours - it would be hard to miss it if it was like mine! I guess there could be a two position switch somewhere on the dash - but unlikely.
Nice pics by the way - you have reminded me that I need to repost mine on the gallery sometime.
Hope your finding it a real buzz to drive - not sure where your from but it would be good to meet up sometime - can you make Kimbolton Country Fayre on the 20th July?

Third picture in your gallery looks like the factory layout for the GTR.
In that pic just above your index finger is a black button. This is most likely the horn.
That button should have a partner on the other side of the wheel which will be headlight flash and dip/high.

ah, Yep thats the horn - can't find any other buttons though, i've found something looking like a relay next to my clutch peddle - going to go and see what that does.
I'll stick some decent pics up of the interior in a sec.
that thing to the left of the clutch is it!I'll stick some decent pics up of the interior in a sec.
Also..... you might be interested in a couple of upgrades I made. You can lower the floor pan if you are very tall to make it a bit less windy....... Lights - I have changed to clear len's and coloured bulbs, and the chrome switchs on the dashboard can have rubber covers added to stop the rain getting in (not that it ever rains in england!) etc etc. Your welcome to compare notes sometime. Very few spyders on here (4ish?)
We are going to Lemans classic in 2 weeks so will be posting photos of that soon. Enjoy your new toy!
Yep - most definatly is a switch for the headlights!
Highflyier - i took the car to Le Mans to watch the 24 Hour race - been doing it for 7 years now - superb fun.
I've taken some more pics of the car tonight - it's a little grubby as not had a chance to clean it yet from the trip - I certainly want to change lights above the steering wheel as whoever drilled/fitted them must of been boss eyed as they are all at an angle (I know that the two outside ones are indicators, but not too sure what the others are - I'm guessing one will be full beam ;-) )
I've also got a switch that's broken on the right hand side in the middle - not too sure what it does yet?
My plan was to make a stainless steel front for all the switches to go on - thus covering up the holes that were previouly there.
How do you lower the floorplan? Has mine already been lowered? How do i tell?
Thanks Guys - i can finially talk to some people that know about these car's in one way or another ;-)

i got some plates from someone on here (?) a few years ago but cant recall who was making them. If you look under the car and it is totally flat - not lowered. You would see the two seat areas about 1.5 inches lower than the rest of the floor. I will try to find out who made them, but I guess the factory can help? How do you lower the floorplan? Re the rest of the switches - didn't you get the 50 page leather bound factory hand book with the car?
;)
I have a plastic red covered folder with "Ultima MK4 Build Manual" but it hasn't got anything about electrics in it - only suggested dash board layout.
Just found the original owner's details as well :-)
Customer - Andy Wyatt
Brakes - Ford
etc..
Also have a the following documents loose in it:
150+ page manual on Holley Carb's,
some "Real Steal" membership details,
Engine Balancing price list,
Pacet Profan Kits and FMS price list,
Davies Craig Cooling systems doc,
And two books:
How to rebuild your small-Block Chevy by David Vizard,
Chevrolet Small-Block parts interchange manual
Think that's pretty much it...

worth trying to get the Factory CD manual which has loads in it. I only have the red manual which is very useful but only as a doorstop!
The electrics bit was a separate few pages of WORDS only! great fun.
These youngsters with instructions on how to build an ultima don't know their born etc etc.......now in my day..... etc
