Anybody else get really wound up when racing online with GT5? Everybody just barges eachother out of the way and the bargee ends up worse off than the barger!!! I spend the whole race taking clean lines and making no mistakes and someone just flys into me, they carry on as normal and I end up with a shortcut penalty for going on the grass!!!!

You can't even get ahead of the pack, because when you are lagging behind the computer speeds the cars up so they catch up with the leader! It spoils what should be a great online game.

Although I haven't got it, I found the same thing happened with F1:CE. I just ended up playing with mates who wanted to have a proper race with no muppets.

yes You didn't mention the idiots who brake hard when you're drafting them, I love that, it's just like real life. rolleyes I have pretty much given up playing as I got sick of being barged off the track all the time.

I think the problem with online racing is there's too many kids on there who know nothing about driving and assume that it's all about going flat out everywhere, rather than driving smoothly. Plus the fundamental problem of driving games - and there's no incentive not to crash. The penalty system is st, they need this to be perfect for the game to work.

I thought this was limited to just me - i always feel i am the worst off. I could be in 1st place and driving perfectly into the first corner only for some pr1ck to punt me off and then i am last ! I am almost always put back to last though someone elses poor car control.. i usually claw my way back up but as mentioned there are a few people who choose to leave the door open and put you into the wall/grass or brake test you on the back straight on fuji/suzuka.. i find i have to factor these people in when making moves which is unnatural.

I really do hope they are looking into this as this could kill it for me if it remains unchanged.

I don't want to turn this into the usual Xbox/PS fracas, but on Forza I've been quite impressed how easy it is to avoid the eejuts, once you get into a lobby with mature racers, in fact, I've even found the opposite to be true, show some ettiquette and people reciprocate - I was (cruising around by comparison) in a Corvette C4 doing some B class races with a load of Mini Cooper driving guys, who spanked me, and afterward they appreciated me getting out of the way (I was being lapped...) and gifted me a pre-set up, tuned and painted Cooper so I could join in their close racing.

Hopefully GT5 will soon boast a system to set races up in a more orderly way - I heard it was on the cards?

I have found if you play in the expert level the driving standard is much better than the beginers that dont brake at any of the corners

Cheers Rob

Well I was hoping the expert levels would be better, as you have to complete the Class A races to take part in them and theres no way you can complete them driving like a tool.

I just need enough cash to get an F430 and I'll have finished the Class A races.

Can you change the driving physics to Professional in expert races? Its so boring on standard physics, you can't get the back end to step out. I've mastered oversteering the 1-Series Concept Tii now, need to get some practise in a 'Rari.

I've found the driving level is just as bad on the expert races - and if anything they are more devious. Just becuase they can race in the expert class doesn't make them any good... i hear you can download save games to unlock the cars frown

I have actually started back on the beginners races and enjoying some of those even more !! - Mini Cooper S on the Eiger Nord track is good fun and close.. doesnt matter if someone punts you as you can rescue it being FWD ! The beginners supercar race on Fuji is incredibly close - good mix of machinery and more fun than the expert stuff. My sixth sense tells me half of the 'beginners' are actually people like me escaping the wreckers !!

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but jesus does it get on my tits when people keep ramming me off the track.

I am trying really hard to get 2million for the F1 car and tossers keep taking me out!!!

I am racing in the Expert arena, mostly on Fuji and 4 times yestreday people rammed me on to the grass on the straight??? FFS

If i could reach down the tv and punch them i would have done lol

Also, bloody short cut penalty crap - i get rammed off at a bend, excelerate back on to the track after spinning to be penalised again!?!?!?!

ARRRRGGGHHHHH

Rant over

Thanks

Chris

When are they going to sort out this crap system they have, no other games uses this model.

You can't play with friends, and only 1 host, and if he drops then everyone does. its not if there new to the gaming world. I can't belive they thought this was a good idea.

Also the catch-up is a joke, and the slip screaming is was too powerfull.

I havent noticed the catch up to be honest, but the 1 host and time penalties is very frustrating.

The penalities are good if people ramn you etc, but running 5mm wide on a bend or getting punted off and accelerating back on drives me nutts.

you get the odd bloke who wants a good clea race and then its great fun, but it only takes one idiot to ruin it!!

Once I 'finished' the game and subsequently realised just how many hours of play the F1 car was from my purchasing power... I downloaded someone else's save hehe Took all of 5 mins, without having to deal with any of those online punters.

I earned the 2 mil, only to find out I couldn't purchase it yet, because I didn't do all the races, so I said f this, and downloaded a save file. hehe

i tried playing again the other night. just using the nsx-r for a bit of fun on suzuka. i hate the fact i need traction control when using the 6axis control.

i hate the fact the car starts to slide, i give a small amount of correction, but it shoots the car off in the other direction faster than i can blink. if i dont correct, it spins.

i think there are alot of issues to resolve with this game, online game play is a big one.

one other thing, the tyres. R3 tyres i feel give the kind of grip id expect from s3. and s1, give the kind of grip id expect from pirelli p6000's.
