Right, I have read plenty of threads ranting about loutish behaviour at LM 08.
I went o Le Mans last year as well as this year nad have not had any problems.
I read the same kind of posts last year about loutish behaviour so this year I made sure my group and I stayed clear from trouble spots. Infact with a bit of 'common sense' and good timing it is possible to have a very good time at Le Mans and avoid the trouble.
What I don't understand is that people are suprised by the yobs that appear on 'Mad Friday' surely it is well publicised on the forums... One can take measures to avoid these areas..
We planned properly and had a great drive to Le Mans from Le Havre, no police on the way there or back and just a lovely smooth drive.
We stayed in a B & B near le Mans nad had no bother on that front, we also bought some good grandstand seats in Tribune 18 which provided us with a great view of the race start etc..
The toilets were clean in Tribune 18 too
Infact the whole trip went smoothly and I enjoyed it better than last year as we learn't from last years mistakes.
The atmosphere was superb on the ferry and my wife felt comfortable throught the trip, I feel Le Mans is a very special race and with some good planning and judgement it is possible to have a great time at the magical race.
I for one will continue to go as I am sure many others will. I just can't see any other races that has the appeal for the 24hr.

He does have a point though.
Houx Annex roundabout does attract twunts on Friday evening, as does the bar on the Mulsanne and the main road through Arnage and, like the poster the group I travel with just avoid them and don't moan too much. I certainly don't start "I was (at HA roundabout/the bar on the Mulsanne/Arnage) and couldn't belive it was full of twunts" threads and moan about it.
If you don't want to see people with shoes larger than their IQs, avoid the areas. If you go to known trouble spot don't come back and b

h about seeing trouble!Sometime it's not your fault,you drive right into it e.g going to your camp site.Why should you put up with, some nice person wanting to open your car door and soak you and your car inside and out with BEER, and their by products from their body and damage to your car.

The fact that you "made sure you stay clear of trouble spots" and "stayed in a B&B near Le Mans" kind of just emphasises what everyone else is saying.
The point is you shouldn't have to avoid trouble spots....there shouldn't even be trouble spots! If you'd been to Le Mans a few years ago then you'd realise how it has changed for the worse. The yobs are taking over the roads around the campsites and more importantly the campsites themselves.
The behaviour is getting worse and in my opinion it won't be long before someone is killed as a result of this mob rule.
Yes it can still be a great weekend....but it was even better a few years ago when you could still enjoy the Thursday/Friday build-up without puting yourself, your family or your car in danger.

I see your point there. I was just saying that it is still a great event and that a good time can be had. Read that a few people on here are switching to the Ring 24hrs or the classic sound a bit excessive to me that's all.
It may well not be as 'friendly' as before but with a bit of research/good judegement it is great fun weekend.
No idea what your post was trying to prove. Sure there are ways of avoiding trouble, but a lot of people want to make Le Mans a fun weekend, enjoying the social, fun, festival aspect and meeting other like minded individuals and visiting all areas of the circuit and local hot spots, including Arnage, Drivers parade etc.
Most people want to do this without risk of their P&J being damaged or health put at risk by a bunch or morons..
I for one used to enjoy the Hunadierres, Arnage/Indianapolis, Arnage town, Drivers parade socials without ever feeling me, my passengers or my car were at any sort of risk, this has sadly changed since the early 2000’s.
During the 1990’s the place was a buzz of activity, utmost respect for people cars and possessions, including the burn out hotspots which existed without ever feeling in danger. My wife and a girlfriend of hers used to drive round in a Cobra quite comfortably knowing that when they got to the burn out/acceleration points they would be respected if they cruised off and not given a load of abuse..
I can remember the days of Arnie in his Caterham Seven doing do-nuts, burn outs and racing a mate on his R1 Yamaha (when he wasn’t wheelying on the roads around Indianapolis) and Martin in his Gold Leaf Europa all entertaining the crowds… The atmosphere was electric and you never felt it was getting out of hand… Sadly, it now seems it is..
I remember when France hosted the world cup, 20k Brits went to watch it and there were reports of horrendous rioting, I was proud to be in a field with 150k Brits all enjoy the hospitality of the French with plenty of luke warm beers without any trouble…
Hopefully it won’t last, the cretins will shrink back to their supermarket car parks and Le Mans will again be the Mecca for sportscar fans again…

No, the whole point is not that it's easy to avoid so why bother wanting to improve things. That is precisely the head-in-sand attitude that allows things to persist.And seems like he had a great time in the process.

Two years ago I thought I was 'avoiding', until I got hit in the face with a jet of water/God-knows-what from a Super Soaker shoved through my open window when I stopped at traffic lights.
For the education of us all, perhaps you'd like to explain how that would be possible to avoid?

I'm not sure what's simpler, that answer or the person posting it.Why should have to keep my windows shut, on a public road outside Le Mans on a blazing hot day, just in case some moron thinks they're being amusing?
Keep up the negative moaning posts about your visits to LM though - makes great reading for all of us who know how to have a good time without upsetting other people!

k they want? Your approach to that would be what? Nice little B&B in Mulsanne, swimming pool, all mod cons, 10 minutes walk from the track, 30 Euros a night.
That's my approach old bean. Has been for years.
