Lurkers Unearthed
Discussion
A month or so ago I mentioned that there's a couple of guys in Singapore building an LS7 powered GTR. They were in Hong Kong a couple of months ago and popped over to see my car. They've been lurking for a while but were too shy to say hi.
I was in Swingapore on the weekend and went have a peek at their car and told them that they would remain lurkers no more.
The guys have done a GREAT job with their car....
Guys... meet Bernard (blue shirt) and Willy and their awesome LS7 powered monster being built in the basement carpark at Bernard's place.
B+W - you cannot hide any longer

Thanks Grant for the kind intro! Bernard and I have been working away on our little project since Dec 07 and it's coming together nicely. We're definitely grateful for all the advice that has been available online on this forum as well as on CJ's and Craig's excellent build sites. For newbees like us it's been a life saver!
The build is fairly standard. It uses an AS 650bhp LS-7. The only bits where we like to make some mods are in the dash and upholstery area. Upholstery is largely outsourced. As for the dash, we're looking to hook up an Aimsport MXL Pista digital dash. And that's where we are in the build at the moment: trying to get the dash to work properly with the ECU/sender inputs. Some bits work, some others may need persuasion. If anyone out there is an Ultima/Aimsports expert do drop me a line!
The most amazing part so far has definitely been the first firing of the LS-7. What an amazing sound!!! Now can't wait to hear it on the road. That's probably another 2-3 months away ... famous last words ...
I'll definitely put up some more pics in future!
Cheers,
Willy

Thanks Simon! We decided to keep the top off to make it easier for our upholsterer to do up the interior. Can't wait to finish up the "cosmetics". But it's been a great relief so far that things actually do work. I definitely didn't take that for granted given our level of experience

... wb200; Welcome, the car looks great. Had to laugh when I saw the picture and thought of Henry Ford, when he got done with his first car and it would not fit through the door so they had to disassemble the front of his barn to get it out. To a more serious note, that certainly looks like the same K/N airfilter that I ran on my 525 hp LS1 until I ran it top end at an old airfield and imploded the damn thing from the suction. I think you might consider a whole lot more air filter for that monster LS7. lEE
Hi guys: I changed mine to a Kinsler setup with a sprint car filter box so that problem is gone. There was a thread on here or the North American site about horse power versus square inchs of filter element needed, might be the best place to get the right answer. As my engine builder who did not select the filter said after the problem, people tend to underestimate the size of filter needed and overestimate the size of the fuel lines. I don't want to get into a argument about this subject with anyone but one thing I have noticed, engines are typicaly run on a dyno without a filter and for very short runs. When I imploded the filter it was on a very, very long runway and we were using the overruns and I didn't start at the end I turned to the runway at speed thats a lot of wide open throttle. That run is also part of the sound track for Speedracer the movie. Lee
Hi, my first post (ever). Even W didn't tell me about this thread!!
I've be de-lurked.
Thk goodness no one has the pic where I lick it!
AIM Pista MXL connected as of last nite, using RaceStudio2, selecting
GM C6-LS2 ecu setting. Figured at least it wd pic up some of the
data frames, if not all.
Headunit is the Infill G4 -> LC6i (line converter) -> Alpine PDX5.
Friggin hours on speaker wiring thats sure to say.
Any EEs out there willing to put some time in on an amplified
sound-cancellation speaker system to be outta phase with the LS7? :P
