Discussion
Thanx for the info on the windshield for the 2500M. Clive has forwarded this on to me. Do you know if the 78 and 79 Taimars take the same windshield as the 2500M??? as I have 2 of those also. I can be reached at aleppard@hotmail.com
Thanx once again guys.
Thanx once again guys.
My understanding is that the original CLEAR glass was fitted to the Ford Consul/Zepher, but that the green tint version was never then fitted to Ford cars. When TVR start fitting the green tint it becomes special to TVR (originally fitted as an option in 72 then in all cars get it in 74).
1 It is worth noting...OE spec on the FORD item was TOUGHENED glass so second hand glass from those cars IMHO should never be used.
2 It is worth noting...green tint really means green (when fitted front screens are put into clear side glass it jumps out at you as green)
3 It is worth noting... rear heated windows are only green tint and car prior to 74 cars that have HRW should then have green glass all round, the way of testing is to take a piece of white paper and offer it to the edge of the glass.

I will add that although not impossible to fit, the heated front screens require VERY careful fitting, as you have to cut the shell and the screen rubber (unlike the rear screen where the wiring is mounted to the face of the glass, this fits to the edge and it requires that you treat it as a separate bonding to the glass and shell) to get it to fit correctly plus an upgrade of alternator along with the wiring to suit the screen.
