Lambda sensor

Does anyone know the ford part number for a 3R lambda sensor please ?

Yep already asked ford for this and they say they do not recognise it ? Maybe its a Jag part ? Will have to ask again I think !

Steve,

Try 96BB-9F472-BA instead of 96889F472BA - they should have recognised the Finis code too, though! And it is a Ford part.

I found that ford didnt do the lamda sensors, I got them from West Tuning. but they wanted to see the ar first because there are several different types it could be in each engine. aparently no uniform lamda does every 3r, gto or gto-3.

That's odd, I used that exact part no quoted above with Ford about a month ago and got the lambda sensor straight away. That was from the Guildford dealer and I think they have more in stock.

I went into my local Ford dealer (Gates) and the one near work (Dovercourt)I was after a new Blue cap for the aircon, got the same story from both, I told them it was off of a Fiesta and they both said pt-np, vin-no and regestration-no or they wouldnt even look.

Ok I've got the sensor ! Has any one replaced the front one and if so how hard is it to do and where's the best way to attack it from ?

Daddysumo, its a piece of pee. I took the front heat shield off its support arm giving me full access to the sensor. It is a very quick job, although the nut for the shield was a little fiddly.

Funny thing is I think one (Or possibly both) of mine have gone and i did them about 18 months ago. My motor is over fueling from cold when idling. Need to re new them and reset the adaptive map (Advice from the god who is known as Yellowshed).

I got mine from the factory last time and if I remember rightly they were about £25 cheaper than from Ford. how much have you just paid?

I'm no expert mate but i believe it is the way the computer deals with difference's that it picks up in how the car is running. So if the sensor is getting the correct signal when cold the ecu adapts the map to compensate. So in my case makes it run a lot richer!!

Resetting it just puts the adaptive map back to the original setting.

That's pretty much correct, AFAIK. But it is also important to reset the adaptive maps any time a key component or sensor in the fuel/ignition system is changed and/or upgraded. Different sensors may have different characteristics and, if not reset, the adaptive maps will try to adjust to those differences, which can cause problems later on.
BTW, resetting the adaptive maps is a DIY job if you have V1.3 of the Noble software on your laptop.

Ah thanks for all the help ! I got the sensor through a ford employee so was not too expensive.
I had noted that the heat shield was in the way and am relieved that it is easily moved to give good access.
The adaptive mapping can also be reset from 5.5 as well if my memory serves me right.
