Hi,

Am looking for some help here, my Griffith is Rosso pearl and I need to repair some damage it has sustained, but my local garage is struggling to make sense of the code for the paint. I have it as R2815/2 but it does not match up with anything he has in his book (max meyer paints?)

Does anyone know where this paint came from, another manufactorer? or is it a TVR colour.

Any help appreciated.

Thanks

Ian

There's a number listed under that code on the excel sheet from the TVRCC site.
This is the relevant section.

R2815/2 ROSSO VRR4B 2K
R2815/2 ROSSO VRR4B 2K
R2815/2 ROSSO VRR4B 2K
R2815/2 ROSSO PLX1B 2K
R2815/2 ROUGE KRG3B 2K
R2815/2 ROUGE KRG3B 2K
R2815/2 ROUGE KRG3B 2K
R2815/2 ROUGE 4MTNB 2K
R2815/2 ROUGE KRG3B AQUABASE
R2815/2 ROUGE 4MTNB AQUABASE

Unfortunately Rosso Pearl is very difficult to match as it is a silver or bronze undercoat I believe with a red tinted lacquer sprayed over the top. The red tint is very bad for fading, even if the car looks ok it is actually likely to be faded from the original colour. Therefore a full respray is usually the order of the day.

Sorry for the bad news, unless it is through the insurance where you should be able to wangle a full respray out of them. I managed when my car was vandalised and I just had to pay a minimal contribution.

...when you get the code also be aware that since the regulations changed on using solvent based paints (now water based are used) the colour may not come out exactly as planned. This is also exacerbated by fading etc.

When I had the front end of mine resprayed samples had to be analysed to ensure the exact match was achieved as the first attempt at spraying using the code came out more cherry than Rosso.

Might be worth getting some analysis done to get the exact match

cheers

Almost impossible to match, and even if you do, you then face the problem of the resprayed section fading at a different rate to the rest. I had a scrape no bigger than my hand, but had the whole car resprayed (in red glow) as a result. If you've got lots of stone chips, you can at least justify the expense a bit...
