I'm having trouble seeing the picture of my car in my user profile. I've included the URL of the jpeg in the profile setup but when I look at it I don't see the pic.

Is there anything special I need to do?
Is there a maximum image size (my pic is 640x480), or bit depth?

Have you linked it to fotango? I did with mine, then it wouldn't link becasue I hadn't the pic in the public gallery on fotango, So I went and did this but it still won't work. Too busy at the mo to sort it out but trying to get round to it.

The picture is hosted on www.150m.com. Its a free webspace hosting site.

If I enter the URL of the picture, extactly how its entered in my profile, into IE it shows the pic quite happily. Just not when I view my profile...

I took the link you've used in your profile and put it in my address bar. It generates a 'hotlinking error' from your host site.

If you can get a URL that works in the address bar then it should work in your profile.

Mike, the picture of your 'stang in your profile seems to work!

Bet you were sorry to see he/she/it go, nice looking motor.

Still, think of the possibilities!

Matt.

Yeah, I got this once but subsequent times it just loads the picture up. The time it did bring that error up I just clicked refresh and it appeared.

It wouldn't supprise me if they didn't allow hotlinking because its an advertising driven hosting company. Also on sign up they have warnings about using the space for server/storage type stuff rather than personal homepages.

In future I may be able to host some profile pictures depending how my plans for hosting work out.

Sorted...I've used fotango instead.
Thats a cool site by the way, glad I had a look.
Boots online use to offer that kind of service but
they stopped it for some reason.

Boots pulled the plug on their operation at a cost of something like £13 million!

Thought it must be something like that, I was registered and towards the end I kept receiving emails about removed stored photos by such and such a date otherwise you would lose them, etc...

Does anyone else know of any other UK based companies that offer the same service?

At 99p(+p&p) a print for 5x7 prints they do seem a bit expensive...

Select one of the pictures in your gallery, then click on the 'Get a link to this picture' menu item to the right (under 'other options').

But make sure that you put them in the 'public shared bit' on fotango (like I didn't first up) or when you try the link from your profile it'll go to the fotango home page and ask you for your password – should just go straight to the car pic.

Ted,

How come plotloss could see my Mustang on my profile but I can't see it myself? Any ideas?

Mike, the URL that that picture placeholder is pointing to is:
www.fotango.com/p/eba00162517f00000003.jpg

However, rather oddly, the size of that picture is being reported as -1 bytes.

Thats where I am lost I am afraid. Dont go much on this new fangles internet technology, if its not big and black with hardly any lights on it I dont know what to do!
